SGI NSW Cup
Match Notes (Reserve Grade):
  • Interesting looking squad, LKT finally gets a game and can probably still be on the extended tomorrow.. Nick is back @ctr, Lawson is out so they have pushed TPH into ctr also.. which is not ideal and Pring to fullback, Leilua the only other surprise, starting 2nd row.
  • 6min - Had a lot of early ball not rly a lot of skill in our backline atm.. but eventually we knock the door down after a few 6-agains, O'Neill slides over 6-0.
  • 8min - Off the kick-off we charge down field with all the usual forwards u can imagine.. an attacking kick that Kye Andrews easily plucks out of the air to fall over 10-0.
  • 18min - We almost scored a few times but jets scored next, just a rly classy play between their 1, 6 and 7 (Ison, Ford, Pollarrd, all prospects).. 10-6.
  • 26min - We have wasted a lot of good ball, but this time LKT with a pass around the corner which looked forward but wasn't called to Leilua who strolls over untouched 16-6.
  • 36min - Just keep handing the ball back.. without converting our dominance.. Jets winger goes past Kye Andrews, disappointing attempted tackle 16-12.
  • 40min - Bugger on half time, 3 pi$$weak tackles and we let them go in to lead 16-18 HALF TIME.
  • 50min - Back on the attack, Jacob nrly goes over and Webster takes a short ball off Dextar Grant (who has been promoted from Flegg, with Fagalilo dropped back to Flegg).. nothing pretty but its 6pts, 22-18.
  • 66min - Kind of a b/s try with multiple offloads when tackles kind of thing.. just unlucky but could cost us the game in a tight one. 22-24.
  • 74min - Another Morgan Harper try over Kye Andrews.. too big and strong for him.. 22-28 still in it but just have not played well, just missing class and speed in the backs.. forwards have been strong. 22-28.
  • 80mins - Gave away an intercept trying to go for a big play.. 22-34.
  • Ever since Talau became the first grade assistant its fallen away in cup, just not playing smart, missing the 1%'ers, obviously missing halves as well with O'Neill and Quinn and today O'Neill and LKT not rly hitting their straps.. but rly we have had no centres for a month now.. unbelievable the centre injuries going on.. like Heidke, Lyric, Lawson, Feagai, Buchanan.. its bananas.. and we just have no finesse in attack, we just have forwards running hard.. positives I guess that Nick seemed to survive the game but definitely didn't star.. TPH rly cant be playing centres hes too small.. LKT I guess got some game time but didn't star.. he did try though.. Jacob was solid, Webster and Hutcho were solid.. Leilua had his moments.. yeah bugger.. season slipping away after a huge start to the year.

Who is now coaching them? Its tough if you don't have a dedicated coach

is he that good do u think? hes rly young which is the issue, but fast forward 1.5yrs till hes LPT's age and is he a machine by then? I dunno but it will suck to let someone else find out, along with Latu and potentially LPT..

Made our only incisive incision into their line the tiny terrier, but he needed to create second phase play as their defense was shot to bits. A try gone begging for mine. incisive incision, I like that.

I’m saying this tongue in cheek sort of but I think it’s obvious with his power and tackle breaking ability + he’s impossible to tackle 1v1. He’s a huge talent

He can be an incredible weapon to generate a quick play the ball and attacking from hooker post-Halangahu hit up

I think they have to do whatever it takes to keep him especially because of his versatility. No one truly knows his best position yet. We might not know for another 3 years

He doesn’t have an off at all never looks like trying or pretending nothing why he playing lock for we need a ball playing lock one that looks to off load one out shit is boring

Jets basicly snatched the game from us with about 15 left on the clock as we were looking out on our feet. We werent helped by a butter fingered and lack of intent Wes Pring at the back, firstly he spilled a ball when almost across the whitewash, then instead of attacking a bomb he allowed their kick chaser to snatch it like a thief in the nite, leading to a try next to the sticks. They sealed it after he lost another ball in our end zone. Lucas Borg should have been promoted by Talau to play at the back.

Lucas Borg looks slow and injured has no explosive runs why would you promote him
