Train and trial for Daniel Meafou

Which is understandable given his injury history, if he gets himself right he’s top notch.

He’s on another level compared to ‘hutcho’ and ‘jarrah’

Weatherall is the big watch for me this year, all the talent in the world but has Corey Ackers tendencies which isn’t ideal. Keep fit and work hard and he should be fine

Seems fair apart from the Sharks. I think they'll be going down the ladder, not up. Dragons will also improve more but realistically, I think 2027 is the year we will be a serious force in the competition. Tigers will improve a lot. Benji put together a very young team with a couple of very good imports.

NEW PLAYMAKER ARRIVES AT DRAGONS

In Wollongong, St George Illawarra have been back at training for two weeks but coach Shane Flanagan’s preseason preparations were bolstered by the arrival of senior players and his new recruits. Former Cronulla playmaker Daniel Atkinson, who agreed to join the club on a three-year deal almost 12 months ago, made his long-awaited arrival to preseason training. Atkinson is expected to slot into the halves, alongside Kyle Flanagan, next season but coach Flanagan’s halves puzzle is far from solved.

Rookie playmaker Lyhkan King-Togia, who is highly-rated at the club, is also in the mix and is expected to push for a spot over the summer. New forward signing Josh Kerr was all smiles when he clocked in for training on Monday.

Skipper Clint Gutherson cut a fit figure on day-one but the veteran fullback is well-known for his high fitness standards. Star centre Valentine Holmes missed the final rounds of 2025 with a shoulder injury but was also back on deck for training on Monday morning.

Playing the tigers/titans/knights twice is a blessing

Manly and warriors twice as well who I think will fall away a fair bit

Broncos 4 days after origin 1 - Knights 2 days after origin 2 - Tigers the week prior to origin 3 so missing their origin players potentially (Luai/May/Koroisau)

Realistically it’s a favourable draw for us, I think 13 wins is a fair enough target and that’s the minimum required to get into the finals in all likelihood
