Watching it back, im trying to think how fullbacks will stop him.. obviously they literally need to put their body square in front of him.. Edwards was just slightly on an angle... but even then I dont think these new breed of small fullbacks are going to do anything other than get themselves injured or concussed.

Only real solution is not to let him get to speed.. but hes got some players inside him that are generating space.. you'd almost have to move CT over to his edge to combat him.

Go lower and try to hold onto an ankle. Imagine him running at Sloan!

NRL screwed the pooch with shoulder charge rules ....

OBs should be able to shoulder from the side to push players into touch .. there is a massive difference between a bump like that and the Inglis on Young bullshit.

The fullbacks attempt at contact on Makasini was pretty ordinary though ... head/body in all of the wrong spots trying to make that hit.

100% on shoulder charges.. I can't see how a fullback isn't going to get knocked out if they have to tackle this guy 1on1 at any level of speed, literally any slight mistake in the way they make contact (and Makasini has footwork too) and ur HIA or your going to get a large knee into some random part of your body.. I get that this is all NRL tackling in theory, but I think its the size difference between him and most fullbacks is the key here... plus its 1on1.

Makasini beat 3 players in that run, 1 guy was fractionally high, so he just palmed him in the head with his long arms (it didnt even slow him down)... the other 2 went lower and so he did the bend down bulldoze move... I guess the answer is to go even lower again (and be in front of him)... needs to be timed to perfection though... gonna be very interested to see what he does to a Kini, Fuller, Gray, Faalago etc.. not that the majority of the other NRL fullbacks are a whole lot bigger.

Just on that... the size of the NRL fullbacks is something I feel should be discussed more also.. I think Gutho and Nicoll-Klokstad are the last of the 'bigger' fullbacks left in the game.. fullbacks are getting smaller and smaller so they can handle the endurance expected now (without soft tissue injuries), its something like 8km run per game + all the training they do.. its one of the things im rly curious about.. in theory Flanno has Barba back in his sharks days (one of the original little guys), but I haven't seen him select anyone 'small' since he has been at our club.. he seems to favour the biggest bodies on every occasion, and I wonder if his approach still works in the modern game... or is the game is passing him by..? Perhaps his gameplan can work if he had a higher quality of player to select... but we havent been able to get that talent.. so I feel like he's going to live and die by this approach.

Shoulder charges that hit high should be severely punished but otherwise, play on. I can't forget Rava's shoulder charges which used to hit around the waist but still got penalised and I think binned a few times.

He'll probably end up at the Roosters like all good wingers/centres do. Flanno has raved about Tu and Fale but I would have Makasini instead of one of those guys.
Don't know what's happening behind the scenes but it really seems like Flanno has been recruiting veterans rather than young guys yet to play first grade. The two you mentioned aren't young.

Anyway, thank god DA is in charge of that now. Flanno might still be a decent coach. Jury is out. But he is piss poor at recruitment and retention.

Flanno with a bit of help from Paul Gallen, who was NSW captain, did pretty good at recruitment at Cronulla, signing the likes of Andrew Fifita, Luke Lewis, Wade Graham, Ben Barba, Jack Bird, James Maloney, Michael Ennis, Matt Prior and bringing Valentine Holmes through his system, who was a Queenslander.
