Sorry to say this new halves combo did not fill me with confidence heading into another season. Still no structured attack and why didn't they take on the line or use the chip kick anything to disrupt their defense. Gutho was our best spine by a country mile, busy as a beaver and is faster with his new fitness, shown when he made a lengthy break that led, if memory serves with Cook spilling a perfectly placed ball on his chest. Gutho tho did miss Dufty badly when he regathered his chip kick to score a vital sixer.

Isn't it terrible that we have had two trial games and we are already talking about coaches who we could get to take over from Flanno? It just shows how little confidence we have about the Dragons' season ahead. I had a very difficult time trying to get to sleep last night because all I could think about was how disappointed I was after we were beaten by the reserve grade Souths team irrespective of us gifting tries. Whether or not the players had Vegas on their minds and didn't want to suffer an injury which would prevent them being able to go to Vegas or thinking that they were only playing a reserve grade team, they just did not show that they had it in themselves to threaten the comp at all. Putting all that drama aside before I fell asleep, I don't think that they are in any way competent enough to win many games in a row that is needed to be on top. Winning one and then losing two over weeks and weeks and then losing many in a row is something I don't want to see again after the previous years.

We will know if our cattle and the coaches are good enough in the first 5 weeks of the comp I'd say to see what the year will end up like.
Stealing that cattle anology from you. I would say we have many promising calves who could well become prize bulls in time but perhaps next season

We did piggy back the baby Bunnies across the line by handing them 12 on a platter, due to two poor passes, one by Atkinson the other Tu. We cant afford to do this in the season proper.
Can't afford to do that in practice games either. Bad habits have a trait of embedding themselves into the psychie of an individual player and a team. Thats when we see what your coach is worth

I made RD a deal Dave that I would lay off Flanno for the first 6-7 Rd's and apologize depending how we are going. But something to note, of the 4 teams going to Vegas, 1 team put the cleaners through Penrith(regardless of who they had) and the team we play zipped Newcastle(who also are going to Vegas). Meanwhile back at the ranch we splutter to a loss against a ressies Souths side.
So the conclusion is that 2 teams really wanted to fine tune their game and the other 2 really had no idea. Oh btw I thought I'd mention that the 2 teams that had no idea are the fav's for the spoon. I hope that makes you sleep better :)

It looks like all systems are a go for two teams to fight out for the wooden spoon in 2026. They played each other in the first week of the trials and they will be sitting on planes on their way to gamblers paradise. I would have preferred that our better team played the Knights first and our back up players against the Bunnies but that is history now.

It will be tough for you not to say anything in those 6-7 rounds Justa - hahaha! I know that you will say a lot if we win 5 out of those 7 games but losing 5 of those 7 games you will want to vent your spleen.

100% Dave, but I made the deal so I will stick to it. Look I really hope the team and Flanno kill it, I really do but if they dont then surely we are running out of excuses, no COE, injuries etc. I will wait and see what happens.

It was LKT RVH not Atkinson
Then I stand corrected mate, sorry Atko but son you need to stamp your authority on #7 in the first 10 rounds otherwise our coach is gonna shove his son back there.

O'Neil went ok as Reeds deputy in Ressies trial, has some organising ability and actually takes on the defense. Put in a few neat short chips too.

Did I read that our giant LPT is contracted only to the end of this yr. Then am I correct in assuming that the reason is a chronic knee injury the big fellar has, recall he has had that knee strapped for bloody ages. He pulled up once in the game clutching it then limped back into the play. Shortly after he was replaced still with a visible limp. Jeez it'd be a travesty if we lost him because he is being seen as a probable liability going forward.
