on Su’a - he’s the prototype of player where their decent but expendable and if you’ve got a solid homegrown/junior pushing through the ranks they can fill the spot for 1/3 of the salary

Agree I think Willie is 1 of them.. the other I think is the question.. I do wonder whether Young saw Ennis as a threat and hence will try to find assistants that arent threats.. or... hopefully it was more just that Ennis was a part-timer, not fully-commited.... didnt work well with Dean, or was not particularly useful..
Ben Teo I reckon would be a great get, but I have noticed that aside from Ben Hunt, we never seem to look in the Brisbane pool of players/talent.. never seem to be linked to players from that club.. I wondered if that is a conscious thing.. we don't have strong contacts there.. or they don't like us... or there is some reason we prefer other avenues... I mean we do go after Dolphins, Titans and Cowboys players..

Ben Teo would be a great assistant but doubt Dean Young would want him. He'd be afraid Ben Teo might be just a little too good and threaten Dean Young's position.

I haven't met anyone, spoken to anyone, heard from anyone enthusiastic about Dean Young as head coach. At best people are indifferent about it. That's about 20%. Another 40% are against it but seems for sentimental reasons, wouldn't be overly pissed if he was appointed. Another 40% want to win, or want the team to win. All they care about is what Dean Young has shown so far and for this reason, are utterly against him becoming head coach.

They were specifically from Hook/Bennett as coaches though, I dunno I've just noticed a lot of players on market over the last say 4-5yrs, and we don't seem to be in conversations with them like we are with players from the other qld clubs (and the sydney clubs), could be happening in private, might just be that it doesn't leak.
But I have a theory that we 'prefer' Sydney based players where possible, less of a transition.. less culture shock.. less risk... maybe better relations with their player managers... with exception of pathways players, we seem to not rly mind where they come from.

It would surprise me too.. Te'o would be in demand by a few clubs I reckon, and I believe Cheika is leaving end of year so he could go to the Roosters..... im sure there are many better options... Storm perhaps.
The other thing is how serious Te'o is about NRL Coaching in the near future.. cause the only way he coaches here is if we fail hard and Deano gets the boot.. that would not be done lightly by our board. Also Deano did fire Ennis.. different situation but its a precedent for sure.
