A while ago when Ricky Stuart was coaching not Canberra but another team, might have been Parra, he called a team meeting. They all gathered and he opened a slide, projected onto a large screen with the names of about a dozen contracted players, some of them relatively big names. He told them all they are gone. They can organise payouts or go to other clubs if there is any interest.

This is what needs to happen at Dragons. I know there are depth issues and I know some of them are going ok but not good enough. So for me prime candidates would be:

  • Klemmer
  • Gular
  • Sele
  • Fifita (off contract anyway)
  • Leilua
  • Mike Molo (off contract)
  • BMM (off contract)
  • Ilias
  • KF
  • Suli
  • Allen (off contract)
  • Lawson
  • Feagai

I think we need to retain some as depth, but I do get your point Edward

Every week we have the regular comments.

We are going to lose by 50, 40, 30. (We've only had 2 blow-out losses)
The halfs are shit
The coach is shit
We have a week roster.
We are nowhere near the top 4 teams.

We definitely haven't had the best year, currently in 11th spot with 7- 11, record.

The intersting thing is our record v top 4 teams.

Dogs 28-20 loss
Storm 14-8 win
Warriors 15-14 loss
Raider 28-24 loss
Dogs 20-18 loss
Raiders 18-12 win

2 wins 4 losses 8 points or less.

We aren't far off just need the half the prop and the speed, hopefully all 3 are next year.

There's a lot to be optimistic about. Just as long as it's been made clear to Flanno we need the half you mentioned.

Fantastic mate.. I cant wait to hear him on the podcast.. hoping that he will change the recruiting game for us.. but also hoping he will be the sounding board that Flanno needs.. he needs some smart footy guys around him.. I reckon Ando will pick up a little of the GM role potentially.
