HAMISH STEWART - DALLY M 2ND ROWER OF THE YEAR

[RufusRex]

Who really cares lol. It's a random pic from the net.

I guess you see that and the immediate thing is another Dargons effort from the club .. if some rando on the net did it then at least it wasnt our "professional" organisation.

Anyway, the question was asked above and i answered it.

As dragons fans, we have more reason than most about being negative & pessimistic but feels a bit odd seeing negativity about his achievement. Imo there's a time & place for praise & negativity. Each to their own I guess...

It's unnecessary nitpicking imo, also if it was dragons related they'd have more dragons emblems etc.

[RufusRex]

ah .. so you created it then?

Let’s be honest, Hamish is a gun and good for him for getting the award but he did not deserve it. Just off the top of my head backrowers better than him this year: Hudson young, Dylan Lucas, finefuiaki, I’m sure there’s more

Players are awarded points each game. I bet there were a lot of losing games where he picked up 1 or 2 points.

that's not how team of the year works .. if it was then Jackson Ford having come in 7th overall would have been one of the two props of the year.
the team of the year doesnt use the 3-2-1s out of the games, it is determined another way.

How is it determined?

dark arts and a bit of media propaganda.

AI says:
The 3-2-1 points system is still in place as the core voting method for the Dally M Medal, but it's actually been expanded.

What Actually Changed

The key change, introduced before the 2023 season, was moving from one judge per game to two independent judges .

· Old System (pre-2023): One judge awarded 3, 2, 1 points per match (maximum 3 points per player).
· Current System: Two judges each award 3, 2, 1 points separately, meaning a player can now receive a maximum of 6 points per game .

Impact on the Team of the Year

This change also affects the Dally M Team of the Year indirectly:

· Higher Tallies: With 6 points available per game instead of 3, the overall vote counts for all players are significantly higher.
· Same Selection Logic: The Team of the Year is still chosen by positional voting throughout the season, with the top vote-getter in each position earning selection. The "Top 3 overall" auto-selection rule also remains .

So while the maximum points per game doubled, the 3-2-1 structure itself is very much still in use.

[RufusRex]

Nope
3-2-1 voting is used for the overall award AND the top 3 get into the team of the year.
Positional Voting is a different tally and its mechanism/process is not defined or results published

Jackson Ford came 7th overall and was the leading Prop in counting 3-2-1s .. he did not make the team of the year with Whyte/JFH picked.
Harry grant came 8th overall but missed out in the team to Egan

It is the dark arts and media manipulation of this positional voting system that gives the media a lot of discretion ...

Okay. Just reporting what AI said. I don't know.

Who cares, he got the award, and well done to him, hopefully we might have a few more nominations next year.
