It wasn't great at the time but now I look at it as ensuring the survival of the club forever. Illawarra is obviously the junior partner. If it were the "St George Illawarra Steelers", it'd be another story.

Our huge cash injection also ensured the Steelers survival at the time while the upside was a larger talent and player pool from the Illawarra to compensate for a dwindling St George nursery.
