Jersey Flegg

Jarrah was huge today best game I've seen him play
Bailey made a big difference second half
Toby was great too.
Based on that you would like to believe it will be a Dragons v Panthers GF. That was impressive especially the 2nd half. When the pressure was on is when you gauge the true character of individual players and the team as a whole, behind at oranges but a one horse race after that.

I'm gonna have to watch on replay this arvo, I saw Hodges go off, did it look serious? That could be season over almost.. hes been the heart of the attacking prowess...

Few Flegg Comments:
  • Today was #1 vs #2 so I thought we were in for a bruising affair.. which turned out not to be the case...
  • Had trouble icing our opportunities in the 1st half but we looked dangerous.. but really all our points were off Treweek.. 1 was a nice run and pass off McLaren, 1 was just individual skill and a big reach out over the line. That said the Dogs did out score us 4 tries to 2 in that half.. and missed all 4 conversions.. so 12-16 at half time was maybe fortunate...
  • 2nd half just seemed like we went up a bit in intensity and dogs dropped off cause they didn't score a point.. I mean they had ball on our line from time to time but it looked like a bit of a mismatch.. and my theory is because we are really stacking our Flegg squad this year, its those cup-experienced forwards that are a bit too much for the dogs to handle.. like Treweek, Fagalilo, Carmichael, Hikila, Jackson.. even if we don't nail things in attack... these guys keep us in games.
  • We outscored the Dogs 34-0 in the 2nd half which is hard to fathom in a top of the table match.
Few individual comments:
  • Treweek was the star, hat-trick aside.. one of the few cup players who looks out of place at this level (in a good way!), but today was probably his best game yet (and hes had a few good ones over the years).
  • Burton also with a hat-trick, no stand out moments as such.. just finished cleanly the half-chances he was presented, great to see him getting regular games.. doesn't look out of place whatsoever.. and has good pace which I love.
  • Heidke.. definitely lost some pace and bulked up a bit during his long injury, which is all good as he will eventually be playing against men.. but I saw him in some small gaps today and I was sure he was going to do something freaky as he used too.. but he just hasn't got 'it' back yet.. I will also say that he used to do his best work outside Kade Reed.. he would be running the perfect line and Kade would hit him at pace and he was through.. maybe that is part of the issue.. but I think its just that Charlie needs a lot more gametime... seems like it will be 2027 before we get him at his best..
  • Borg was rly good too, worried about his injury though..
Injuries/Finals:
  • #2 plays #3 next weekend.. so that will be tough for both teams... but todays win 'almost' guarantees us the minor premiership, even if we lose to Manly (running 13th).. that means we should get week 1 of the finals off..
  • We may need that break though, honestly we had so many injuries today its awful stuff.. looked like 3 serious ones to Hodges, CMeafou and Williams.. all lower leg injuries.. Hodges was in an off-the-ball hit too, which wasn't penalised.. so just like watching first grade... Hodges is the brains of that team so he will be a huge loss....
  • But Borg also got what I believe was a crusher and a few other hits on him (again no penalty), he struggled all game but stayed on.. Toby Rumble also limping.. but stayed on and in fact ran the length at full pace to finish off the game. Marley also seemed injured.. we need to survive next week and try to put our best team possible into Finals week 2..
