Junior Reps 2026

Can you unlock the thread? If Captain Frank is going to stick around, it's obviously something he feels very strongly about. Keep the issue on that thread or it will raise it's ugly head over and over on other threads. At least in that case, Flanno and his boy will be happy. And if anyone doesn't like it, they can ignore the thread.
I have read the thread in its entirety including all comments and I have made a decision that it is in nobody's interests to continue the thread and not in the best interests of this forum.

To me it's like exhauming a body from a grave after years buried for no real reason or value.

Therefore I have determined that this thread is to be deleted. If any members wish to directly contact me by use of the email icon I will of course answer however I have already openly given my reasoning within this reply.

Appreciate those comments myself and Eric Eric have similar views in regards to the conduct of members and their views.

Neither of us believed that because a members comments about another person were their views and were not deflamatory then people are entitled to their views and was not a bannable offence.

Its actually a tough gig being a moderator on a public forum if you take those responsibilities seriously. As you say the easiest way is to just press a button and ban someone but that's not what this forum or we are about.

Personally I'm going to miss the insights from Mug Fan Mug Fan but when people make up their minds that it's in their own best interests to remove themselves all you can do is try to find a mutual agreement, unfortunately on this occasion we couldn't. I hope it won't adversely affect this forum moving forwards.
It is a tough gig, and obviously everyone appreciates what you guys do. Something to consider - if this forum didnt have the insights it did from mug fan, would I of joined? would a lot of other members joined? I dont want to glaze them too much but the value they provide to the forum is a lot higher than what the other member would... This is essentially a battle against the other forum for members, the more value this forum provides, the better. Just something to think about and not a dig at all at either of you :)

Your absolutely right but you can't stop people coming and going we are a public forum after all. To be blunt if a person is a bit of antagonist who rubs people up the wrong way because of his views is that grounds to ban him?

In my view Jodragon40, if someone genuinely holds a belief, even if it runs against the mainstream and they express it without being abusive, then the situation is tolerable. What I can’t accept, however, are the types of posters I’ve seen on another forum, who clearly weren’t genuine SGI supporters, and probably not even rugby league supporters, who would identify easy targets and relentlessly bait them. Some members inevitably took the bait, and the trolls would then torment them constantly. Those types should be dealt a life time suspension.

Absolutely and I will do my very best as will Eric Eric to ensure that is dealt with swiftly

Can I accept your challenge? Which of our current crop of juniors or young players will become, rep players? And does that include Italy, Lebanon, Georgia reps or only Origin, Aus, NZ, England, Tonga, Samoa?
I haven't seen any of the juniors play any games. Only recently have I seen a few highlights reels of young players, who I commented on recently when talking about our NSW cup team. I will tell you all my opinions as I see them. As I have mentioned numerous times. As soon as I saw Jaxon Purdue, I thought he was going to be a future star. Last year I looked him up and learnt.saw he played in the halves as a junior and straight away, I began saying he would be Qld's future long halfback or 5/8. If not then fullback. I said if I was Saints coach or recruitment officer, I would go 1 mil a season for him and bet my job on it that he is a future star.

Casey Mclean from Penrith is a future star. He may end up at fullback for Penrith. But in saying that I am not sure if he has the passing game for a fullback, as he looked to go himself a lot last year, instead of feeding his winger.

Probably the reason I never made 1sts. You would have been a good scout back in the day
Going back to 1990 to 1992. In the weekly team list in the Telegraph Mirror, I used to put an * sign next to the young players who I was very confident of becoming rep players. I would put + sign next to those who I thought might and a - sign next to the ones I thought were maybe's.

I had a mate who was also a very good judge of talent and we would often agree on things rugby league, the one who saw Sonny Bill at the World 7's and asked for the program to see what his name was and said he was going to be a mad centre. If I owned Saints I would have made him CEO, even though he was a Manly fan.

As soon as I saw Gordon Tallis play first grade I knew he was going to be really really good. Phil Gould who is regarded as one of the better judges of talent and played a major role in signing ARL contracts during the Super League war, referred to Tallis as a reserve or something along those lines, he was mostly coming off the bench at that stage. I couldn't believe Gould didn't see Tallis as a future great. If he did and offered him a big money ARL contract, we may have kept him. The same may have applied to Anthony Mundine and he too signed with Super League. As soon as I saw Mundine debut I said he was going to play reps.

Do you know the Midnight Oil song. Power and Pasion? It is a good song, probably my favourite Oils song. Even the title is applicable here. There is also a line in it that is applicable here

"It is better to die on your feet than live on your knees."

Making the semis once in the last 14 years, is living on your knees. What do you think?

After listening to the song again, there are other numerous lines, even verses that are applicable to "us" and what I am talking about.

Going back in the 80's and 90's I would say that St George fans were the proudest and most "passionate" fans in the comp and that other fans didn't or couldn't understand, because they weren't St George fans. Many St George fans agreed with me, but when I would say to fans of other clubs, most of them would scoff at the idea or didn't believe. Some other fans of other clubs did agree with me about it. It is/was in our blood, in our heart and in our soul. St George fans expect success, well they at least used to expect success. I suppose most of them don't anymore.

If you are talking about me. Then I think I provided the best argument ever. I think it was the best post I have ever written about football and St George and have been planning on writing an email to the St George board, Illawarra board and CEO regarding it all. I think the post should be printed in a mainstream media as an open letter. We are talking about St George Illawarra here. I wasn't talking about a person. I am amazed at so many people being so upset about the thread that I started. I think they should have appreciated it and thanked me for it. If they don't agree, for what ever reason, they have every right to think, believe or say what they want to. They also have every right to provide a counter argument.

I missed it too but please don't ban anyone for having an unpopular opinion. That is so weak.
I won't only if it gets personal then a warning will be given 1st. Keep the threads and views within the realms of constructive conversations and there shouldn't be an issue.

Yes I was Frank Facer Frank Facer I have spoken to your privately in regards to some issues raised and we have addressed them. Your threads and comments are quite extensive and no doubt quite passionate but in regards to that particular thread I openly gave my reasons for deleting that thread. However if you and others wish to discuss that issue there is nothing wrong with you speaking directly to those persons.

I certainly do know that song, wasn't a big fan of Midnight Oil myself, too political in their words but that's just me. Big fan of the Bee Gees, AC/DC , ELO back in the day. Now I'm a fan of crooners, Frank Sinatra, Michael Buble to name two, because I have found as I age, although the passion is still there I have mellowed in my views. You can't rewrite history so it is better to accept the decisions of the powers to be and move and look forward to a more successful dragons era which I believe that we are building.
