It's true but would depend on the age and preference of the player and his family. Some would prefer 15 year-olds be in a family home rather than in some kind of dormitory. Maybe 17~18 year olds would prefer to be in a dorm. But once again, don't hold me to that. I'm only speculating.View attachment 765I’m gonna whinge for a second here. It’s embarrassing for our club that we don’t have housing unlike the roosters/bulldogs etc. for faraway kids looking to relocate. It’s a really big thing which hinders bringing talented kids from QLD/NZ to our area, just bush league and the optics don’t look very good.
I agree. I used to work in a real estate office and I recall renting a couple of units to a sporting body for footy players to be housed until they could find other properties to occupy in their respective area. I can also remember working in a government organisation to allocate housing that was either owned or rented by that organisation in remote areas so that good staff could be accommodated without them having the hassle of finding properties to occupy which would have been a turn off and therefore meant that the best staff could not be attracted to go to those areas to work.View attachment 765I’m gonna whinge for a second here. And i highly doubt 15-18yo and even older would know how to cook a healthy meal either and have to do it 2-3 times a day every day..It's true but would depend on the age and preference of the player and his family. All I know, it wasn't me.Just wondering why this thread was renamed "whinge"? Seems the content is overwhelmingly positive.

14~18 year-olds (how young do they actually recruit?) are definitely better off in a home. Then transition to some kind of dormitory where one has meals cooked and cleaning done, or at least cleaning supervised. Also someone to make sure they aren't going out drinking every night. If they want to do that, they shouldn't do it in accommodation subsidised by the club.View attachment 765I’m gonna whinge for a second here. I don't remember the age but remember reading about it on this forum and was surprised by how young they started recruiting. It might be 13~14 to prepare for the u15s comp.14~18 year-olds (how young do they actually recruit?) are definitely better off in a home. Sounds very hit and miss. Anecdotally, A LOT of the most talented 13~16 year-old crash out and A LOT of 18~19 year-olds who no one other than maybe their parents thought would make it when they were 13~14, come good. Andrew Johns is a classic example. In his high school years he couldn't get into the best rep teams due to a bloke called Damien Chapman who played for St Gregs Campbelltown. Who was head-hunted to play for St Gregs back in the day they were the only high school which did it.I don't remember the age but remember reading about it on this forum and was surprised by how young they started recruiting. Sounds like Kade Reed vs that f*king Bullgrugs halfback Woods who was the worst player in the field in the U19s Origin game last year when NSW just won. Worst player on the field in the Aus schoolboys vs PNG U19s. Worst player on the field in last years SG Ball GF (I appreciated his game that day) and after all that, Kade Reed was still stuck behind him in the U19s Origin game this year when NSW lost. Anyway, we all know about Andrew Johns. As for Damien Chapman, played 3rd grade for St George for a season or two.
Hopefully in many years from now, missing out on Aus schoolboys and U19s Origin will seem so minor as to not think about it at all.Sounds like Kade Reed vs that f*king Bullgrugs halfback Woods who was the worst player in the field in the U19s Origin game last year when NSW just won. Though if the Grubs pay him a lot and Dragons can sign Reed for less as a result of this farce, it can only be good.
I hope Ah Kee is in the St. George team. Or have they decided he can move straight into Jersey Flegg?Steelers Sumner Squads
Note AJC & LDC now come under the Steelers wing.
