Junior Reps 2026

Tbf I think Steelers SG ball will be interesting with Marley Maclaren back in the fold

Probably was a bit too high on the Matt’s team this year. Now the focus is individual performances

Eyes on Burton,Rokko Walker, Meafou, Amone etc.
The Matts team is missing a few forwards, but if they can keep Amone, Chapman and possibly Coehlo (just based on last week), that will take them a long way... (as I write this Mug just said Amone will play today), so that helps, but hes missed 2.5 games HIA, and Chapman's HIA will be a minimum 2 weeks missed.. thats half the season already, but with some luck maybe.. and maybe Coehlo's kicking game if they can fit them all.. they should definitely be aiming to play finals.

SG we shall see, theyve been staying in games... the pack is very good, good halfback, couple of decent backs.. probably missing the superstar fullback, seems like a cheat code at lower levels.. maybe all levels.. but they are 0from3 I guess is the reality check.. all be it a 1 pt loss was unlucky in Round 2.

It's only week 4 in reps but the cream is rising to the top.

SG Ball
Let's look at the bottom 8
Bears and CC are basically feeder teams.
Warriors are up and down depending on how players handle all the travel.
Sharks who cares.

That leaves Steelers Dragons Tigers Magpies, the joint venture teams spreading their talent and funds.

Steelers have a decent side but no attack.
Marley is back this week, how would a full strength team look with Jasias, Cornelius and Phoenix in it

Harold Matts ladder.

The bottom 8 looks familiar again
We have Dragons Tigers Magpies again.
Steelers doing better with a stacked team but again no attack.
What would they look like with Rokko at 6 and Luka ball playing at 13.

Just on Luka and the travelling argument, he seems to have no trouble travelling from the Gong to St George for training.

Looks like a very compelling argument. What is stopping them doing it? Lack of foresight or more political? One side of the JV not wanting to give up it's dedicated junior teams.

I was literally looking through our results since the NSWRL records started in 2014 for HM & SG.. and its essentially Bottom 2 and Bottom 4 respectively the entire time.. I get the theory that seperate teams is an advantage (I used to believe it), but the reality is telling us a very different story, over and over again.

I can only imagine it makes external recruitment (which is necessary for us to succeed) far more difficult.. and even extending those players after 2-4yrs of pain is also a bit of a nightmare.. 2024 SG Dragons and 2019 SG Steelers aside which are complete blips versus every other grade/year.

Too many old fans and old staff on both Dragons and Steelers living in the past on nostalgia.

I aint apologizing to anyone for being one of those nostalgic Saints dinosaurs and for never accepting the joint venture. For all but 10 yrs of my life I have devoted myself to the REDV. Thankfully I am still able to watch my historical club at rep junior level, plus that there is still a robust representation at Saints junior level. So I resent you wanting to trash the comp which will cut off a pathway for those kids with a dream to wear the REDV one day.

How likely is having 1 team mug?

I can only see good things happening from it and hope it happens, but it’s so unlikely isn’t it?

Have been impressed by our bookends, but #10 just spilt the pill in a good movement. Is it Mamvevei?.

Walker needs to take on the line more today. Looks to be our only back with individual talent.
