Who were those good players we recruited before Flanno signed with us? I can't remember them. The players we didnt/couldnt recruit not the ones we let go.

We overrate our junior base massivelyIs our junior base really that good? Of late we have had the likes of Eagan, Toby and Ryan Couchman and Halangahu debut, but besides them, I am struggling to name any great juniors we have produced since Lomax.
I am hopeful of Reed being a good one.
Flanno's only other options this year for 7 are Kyle, who I thought would have been wearing the number 7, but isn't that good, King Togia, who isn't a 7 and looks to be over rated by many on this forum or Reed who Flanno says he is holding back until he puts a bit more weight/muscle on and is ready for first grade.Imagine picking a 20Yo half’s worst game and acting like he’s played like that every week
I don’t think LKT is generational but he’s worth persisting with
Let’s remember that Daniel Atkinson didn’t profile himself as a game managing half. He’s been a strong ball runner at 6 or a fullback for his entire career
There’s only 1 person that should shoulder blame for playing him there and not succeeding if that’s the case, while if he does go well than Shane deserves credit
I totally agree. We overrate our junior base massively
St George offers sweet F*ck all and the Illawarra produces some good players which either get picked off or flop with us because we’ve been mismanaged for the last 15 years
Btw, the steeler tragics like Shaun Timmins think that the club HAS to be built on kids from Dapto/Kiama etc. and that shit holds us back tremendously
An area with a population a third the size of Newcastle and Canberra is supposed to be a production machine for the best talent in rugby league supposedly
Yeah nah that method won’t work in this day and age
Mug put it perfectly the other day, we need investment and to streamline our pathways for sustained long term success where we produce NRL players every year or 2 and not having a run of 3-4 years with producing no talent
Sullivan may be better than Kyle, but he still hasn't been able to lock down a regular first grade spot at Souths or Wests.
This is what I have always thought. How many halves have come on and gone off the market since Flanno came and brought Kyle with him?
I know like everyone else he struggled under Griffin's coaching but I think Bud Sullivan is much better than Kyle.
Were either of those clubs interested in signing Kyle when he was off contract, unsigned?Sullivan may be better than Kyle, but he still hasn't been able to lock down a regular first grade spot at Souths or Wests.
Well played by Deano. That's a level of political intrigue I didn't know he was capable of. He knows Flanno is a six-pack short of a carton and is feeding his sickness knowing it's going to bring about his sacking and Deano's probable promotion. I just don't agree with him. This is going to taint him as well. Specially now Flanno has specifically nominated him as the one telling him Kyle has been playing well.So now with the latest massive dose of deluded dribble from Flanno, again telling us not to believe our lying eyes vis-a-vis his boy, we can gain 2 things from it.
- Flanno has gone back to his days as an U8s coach. That same level of professionalism. For Kyle it's all about effort. Talent, ability and RESULTS be damned.
- He knows he's utterly deluded vis-a-vis Kyle. He admits he relies on Deano to tell him how well Kyle played. What he didn't need to say is if Deano tells the truth, he'd better start looking for a new job.
You have to feel for him having every man and his dog having a go at his boy. Its tough I've coached my two boys and been accused of favouritism and nepotism. But the team knew if one of my boys weren't good enough then they wouldn't be in the run on team.
After the last 2 years and almost every time he opens his mouth for the public, and getting worse, for someone to still say it isn't nepotism....... What can I say? Bias or wishful thinking overriding reality.I don't necessarily agree with that. I acknowledge that his boy is not a starting 13 player. But in his defence who else can pull on that 6 jersey now.
As for Young personally I hope he never gets the 1sts coaching gig with us, its a giant step back in my view. Im told Ennis has had a bit to say and do during the off season so we will see what impact he has had on the squad.
In 3 days time we can see for ourselves
Timmins idea is holding us back or the fact they are trying to make it work with the St. George juniors as well? That is to say, not following Timmins advice is holding us back? I'm not an expert but to have a base for a junior nursery and recruit from the outside like the Rorters and Storm seems desirable.Btw, the steeler tragics like Shaun Timmins think that the club HAS to be built on kids from Dapto/Kiama etc. and that shit holds us back tremendously

Hunt wasn't a game managing anything !! All that little prick was good for was sucking the life out of the club, that he managed real well.Flanno's only other options this year for 7 are Kyle, who I thought would have been wearing the number 7, but isn't that good, King Togia, who isn't a 7 and looks to be over rated by many on this forum or Reed who Flanno says he is holding back until he puts a bit more weight/muscle on and is ready for first grade.
The blame goes back before Flanno got here. We did have Ben Hunt as our halfback, but he wasn't exactly a game managing halfback, he wanted out before Flanno got here and then wanted out at the end of the year and signed with Brisbane for a reported 500K a year and was fine playing hooker for them, but wasn't fine playing hooker for us. He wasn't a good leader either and one could even say had a toxic effect on the club as whole, but was our highest paid player.
Yep, a real weasely money grabbing person. He did not manage our games well and wasn't a leader of men. He did us no favors by not helping out in the positions by not agreeing to play hooker with us which would have possibly helped our young guns like Sullivan ands Amone to get their combinations working which I think would have worked.Hunt wasn't a game managing anything !! All that little prick was good for was sucking the life out of the club, that he managed real well.
