When does the new season start and how are the Dragons looking? I mean, as a RL team, not literally how they are looking.

I think it starts in June. Each team in the expanded competition playing each other once and then expanded finals. I think the quality is going to go down this year. With so many new teams. It will probably take 2~3 years for the quality to reach what it was last year.

Seems Dragons haven't lost any of their best players. Maybe the dilution of the competition will benfit us.

RLPA hits back at NRL over pregnancy and paternity policy

The Rugby League Players Association have hit back at the NRL as negotiations for the game's next collective bargaining agreement continue to stall.

While the players have had post-career medical and hardship funds at the centre of mind, today, attention has turned to the game's pregnancy and paternity policy, as well as private health care and contract length for NRLW players.

An earlier report suggested that the NRL had knocked back what had been proposed by the RLPA, which was support for pregnant players, which would continue for any player with a child under the age of three, as well as private health care funded by the salary cap.

3 years paternity leave is asking a bit much, isn't it? Not like they can get impregnated while playing or training.

The ghost of Johnny Raper might do it.

So for this season we have lost:
  • Kezie Apps (Tigers)
  • Racheal Pearson (Parramatta)
  • Emma Tonegato (Shonkies)
  • Keeley Davis (Rorters)
  • Shaylee Bent (Gold Coast)
  • Taliah Fuimaono (Gold Coast)
  • Jaime Chapman (Gold Coast)
As a result, the only team with no one in the NSW or QLD Origin sides.

The board obviously doesn't really care about the NRL or NRLW as long as they get paid. The only reason they hired Flanagan was because suddenly the spotlight was on them.

The club obviously doesn't really take it seriously. Interesting because the other clubs take it very seriously. The quality of the football isn't great but it's excellent for marketing.

Though Pearson and Tonegato aren't huge losses. Both are sliding.

Anyone know when the womens comp is starting? A very young team might surprise us and give us something to cheer.

Bizarre referee call duds Dragons

It was the bizarre moment that ultimately cost the Dragons and left viewers shocked.

Teagan Berry was on fire for the Dragons on Saturday afternoon and almost orchestrated a come from behind win against Canberra.
Raiders star Zahara Temera nailed a field goal to win 19-18 in golden point, but the game shouldn’t have needed extra time to be decided.

Midway through the second half Berry was denied a try for a double movement with the Dragons down 18-6, but it was a try every day of the week.

Berry did all the good work through a wall of green to wrestle out of the defence, stretch her arm out and score, but referee Kasey Badger denied her on the spot to the shock of viewers.

Badger claimed on the field she had called held, but there was still movement in the tackle. It was a bizarre moment that ultimately cost the Dragons, who scored another two tries to send the game to extra time, only to lose in the 73rd minute.

Losing again. I know this was a rebuilding year but Sowie was part of the Griffin faction and he's presiding over a losing team. Pressure should be on.

Big second half comeback and a try literally 15 seconds from full-time sees the Dragons win 20-16.

6. DRAGONS

Won: 3, Lost: 4, Drawn: 0, Points: 6, Points Differential: 14

Dragons’ run to the finals

R8:
Sharks at PointsBet Stadium (W)

R9: Broncos at Netstrata Jubilee Stadium (L)

Predicted finish: 6th, 8pts (4-5)

One-point losses to Canberra and then the Gold Coast have cruelled the Dragons season, which has been up and down to this point. They’re not totally out of the race for the finals yet, but they need to win both games – and in particular the Broncos in the last round, which could decide the top four. A massive swing in points differential could technically get them there too.
