NSW Cup 2nd Half Notes (36-28 Win):
  • Nice set early in the 2nd, couple of risky passes to get Ramsey in the clear.. who fakes the fullback and scores under the post 16-24. Game on.
  • Been a tough game back and forth but finally a penalty after some foul play we attack their line, glover chips it close to the line and Ramsay managed to regather and offload for ilias to go over... 22-24 with 24mins left.
  • MMolo crashes over after another good set.. first time in front 28-24, 19mins to go.. still no Heidke..
  • Ramsey nearly goes in himself but then Liu on a big charge gets a very very late offload and HFinau > Muhleissen and were in next to the posts.. 34-24, 11mins to go.. can we hold the lead.
  • Connor off a great run had us attacking their line again.. but only 1 tackle left... gets it to Ilias with plenty of time and space... and just bombs it again.. bloke has had half a dozen wonderful attacking opportunities on the front foot, and just gets it so wrong.. its incredible tbh, I would have thought he would crush it at this level.
  • Penalty with 4mins left, 36-24, finally bluddy Heidke gets on... tbf Nick has been amazing.. but Heidke should have just played Flegg really. He went on didnt make a tackle (he went on to get 1 run right at the end).
  • Another ridiculous call from ref gives the raiders a raid on our line with 2mins to go.. and Glover misses a 1on1 tackle and they score.. they miss the goal and we close it out 36-28.. great win and we deserved it.. we shouldnt have had to work so hard but we got there against a big raiders side with lots of talent and cook/sanders in the halves.

The thing as a coach you look at in these games is the mental toughness to dig yourself out of the hole that you are in. This is a young team and as you rightly pointed out the mark of a good team and a good coach is how you respond to adversity.

I would have to say that this team and the youngsters playing in it that are still eligible for jersey flegg excites me moving into the 26 and 27 seasons. I'm also impressed by the coach and his tactics and game plans.

Flanno should be offering Pahulu a 3 year deal. Get it done, 2 year offer probably wont work especially if a couple of other clubs are sniffing around. No mucking around, 3 years, about 1.4, 1.5 hopefully gets it done and maybe even grab him before June 30

Lawrie/Guler/Sele are all on contract.. I mean if they have offers maybe.. Sele is a tricky one cause if he can actually stay healthy.. hes a first grader.. and its good in a way cause if we do want to move him on he will be sellable.. but this all depends on us being able to replace them with better.

Klemmer I still think is a maybe.. if we signed Pahulu all good, but if we dont find anyone.. then I dunno.. I think we have time to figure it out.. dont think hes going to have a queue of clubs looking to sign him.

It’s a young man’s game now, average age of an NRL player is 24.4 Years old

Would be a waste to keep Klemmer beyond 2025 when there’s talk of Pahulu being offered a contract who’s a quality middle and can only improve

Flanno did say he was impressed with Jacob’s work ethic in preszn, wouldn’t surprise if he rewarded him with an early upgrade for a little extra cash in 2025

You could see today Sele was a 1st grader hes been unfortunate with his injuries, he is injury prone and then ill health. On his improved fitness since he returned id suggest a bench spot in 1sts isn't too far off

Jake's not moving into top 30 and he doesn't have a development spot.
If any anything Lawson would be promoted, but I think that only happens if we are managing out Sup list, T@T cap separate to top 30 cap.

Players have plenty of bonus and extras in contracts we don't just give them extra for fun.

o all gd I thought Halangahu had been promoted possibly into Ackers spot, if not he bypasses dev and str8 to Top30 next year.

o Rly interested to see how they manage Heidke and Reed from here.. Reed has been bought on slower than his similar aged comrades like Woods and Rodwell, and I think thats good, cause itll all come at him very fast once hes in the public eye and stepping up grades. But right now Glover is going so well in NSW Cup... and that side is hopefully going deep in finals.. would be a big call to disrupt it.. but who knows what injuries occur, we arent even half way thru the season.

o Heidke looked physically more than big enough in NSW Cup today, I still think they need to play him @ctr for 80mins, and put Nick into 2nd row instead of MMolo (who can play anywhere), but I also cant argue that Mick had a ripping game and Nick did too bar the 1 defensive glitch early... but if he is a 2nd rower whos potentially coming into 1st grade with 1 more injury.. he should be playing there.. im sure they wouldnt really consider him to play first grade as a ctr, like his running game is amazing (prob better than suli), but defensively against the games best.. i think they would go at him all day long.
