You've got to save money somewhere in the salary cap era. I think you can get by with good and relatively cheap OBs and edge backrowers. Even 800k is too much for a centre.

Our blokes are putting in we’re just lacking the finishing touches due to lack of speed, talent & footy IQ from some. Would love to have a 7 so Atkinson can play his natural game at 6.I dont know, thats happened at 3 clubs now, besides that whats our excuse
I genuinely think the players are playing for the coach ATM.

800k isn't even that much anymore. I think the best edge backrowers are worth more than that. They do a lot of work. Make a lot of tackles, do hit ups in the middle as well as attacking on the edges. Though 800k for the best centres seems about right.

Edge backrowers are so important in today’s game so imo you need more than cheap. 80 minute mobile with skill who can defend are essential

Yeah look to me , I was pretty gutted in that last game and it certainly looked like Flanno has lost the shed. He has antiquated ideas and his constant selection of KF, I really think some players are not invested.

There’s less demand for outstanding backrowers because their way more commonplace than gun front rowers/halves
Like look at our pathways, we’ve got 4 potentially 5 very talented edge backrowers who aren’t even starting in first grade
You can make do with ‘cheaper’ backrowers and spend the money on the spine like panthers and storm and occasionally if there’s an elite backrower you can splash the cash like Liam Martin or Eli Katoa
That is the model we should be aiming for, no more 800k centres and 800k average backrowers

Can’t disagree mate but to me a cheap back rower needs to be more than just a workhorse. Look at some of the better ones Young, Kikau,Katoa(before his injury) Olokau’atu, Fainu etc they all have size, skill & speed.
I have high hopes for Egan & Nick T to bring this to us

I never said a Cheap backrower can only be a workhorse, it’s about developing your own and bringing them in on a small contract and performing well above the value of contract that their on

We have an u/6 game plan
One out for 5 tackles then long kick
We need to run the ball periodically on the last
Tackle.
We need a better short kicking game. Chip or grubber.
Every team we play knows Kyle lacks the acceleration to split the line. They expect him to pass the ball. Hence the defence is sitting on our
outside backs. Same applies to Gutho.
Some of the forwards need to off load the ball when tackled.
CT is simply too slow and should be dropped
Buchanan is not killing it in Reserves. He needs to before being promoted.
Halangahu is huge and could play in the middle. He could replace Guler who offers very little.
We need an organiser who is creative. I expect Reed to be promoted by the end of the season.
