Bostock is obviously better but I think Matt Burton is a very good centre. If Bostock is in line for 850k, Burton is probably worth 750k. Just as long as he reconciles himself with the fact he's a centre, not 5/8.

I have a feeling the reality is Gould wants him gone so he can go shopping again.. his favourite thing to do.. I dunno if an 800k offer is sincere.

You would think surely Burton knows he's not getting a position in the halves @ any club.. even perth I doubt he plays there.. maybe but i think he needs to focus on playing ctr.. even though its a bit of a waste of his boot.

I mean we can formulate a plan to have him drop back on 5th tackles.. and assuming we have no intention of running his direction, but I dunno seems like its making things more difficult... and tbh Metcalf has a pretty big boot anyway if hes fit.. not sure on Nikorima... but Burton is like a 1 in a 100,000 type boot.

Would be nice to have the option atleast.. esp in a clutch moment.. that said im hoping we get Bostock instead

I'd prefer Bostock as well but it depends on the money as well.

Meninga wants Burton as a Marquee. Wants him to reunite with Toby Sexton and play 5/8th. Offering good money ($1m per year over 5 years) for 2028 but hopes to get him for the Bears inaugural year even though he is signed to the Dogs for 2027.

Obviously that amount of coin and the length is good for Burton but a bit much for us.

As the saying goes, "the Dragons are enquiring", does not mean we are actually. We in fact may not be targeting anyone. We have our up and coming juniors. We would want the juniors to get first crack at playing in first grade I would imagine?

It is fun to speculate like trying to work out if Monday will be fine without looking at the full BOM forecast.

I hope we can sign Bostock but I worry about the salary cap. I hope there are no backended contracts.

We wouldn't be concerned if we had a trade period like the AFL . Anyway all the inuendo continues on like a circus show.

I am banking on Daniel Anderson to get the best players that are available for the positions we need to strengthen. He has that ability. If we still had Flanno and Haran then heaven forbid. We are really now in that period where things will be crazy. If Anderson is looking at talking to the managers of players like Bostock, Burton etc because they have not re-signed with their clubs before Nov 1, then that's all he can do and we will need to wait and see what eventuates. He might just be happy with what we have already though and that will be that.
