There are always 2 trains of thought, yours and mine. I did work for a very short period of time with fat albert. He was actually a copper whilst playing, which gave him the tools to be both physically and mentally ready for the rigours of 1st grade. He was tough as teak , built like a brick shithouse, had a wonderful offload after 1st contact, has 2 premiership rings as well, 77/79. I believe he was 21 when he started playing for us and cpt us to our 79 gf win. I dont believe you could compare the 2 at this point of their careers. I hope I'm wrong and the kid is actually the next big thing. Time will tell and our current coach is nobody's fool he will know.
What ever way they go let's hope the kid goes on to be a legend ........ Just my take on playing at a young age in first grade , seen it while I was playing , yes they have to be talented , tough but they also have to have some arragence about them to make it ....... Not to be phased with who they are up against ....... Anyway mate have a safe Christmas 🎁⛄

On the field JDB is one of the best role models possible. Off the field in regard to training and other things, I honestly don't know.
I read Jack has been mentoring all three of our Aussie schoolboys, so the club has no problem with him. Just wont allow him to captain full time. Expect that order comes from the NRL. Unfair.

Evidently Leo Thompson is NOT on Flannos radar. Every other bastard club is. Where is our enforcer coach? Cant expect Jack to do everything.
Flanno must have big plans for the multitude of young middle forwards coming through the grades. Doesn't seem like he went very hard after May, the former Roosters prop either. He was after AFB but that was about 10 months ago now. Was after RCG but not so badly he would allow RCG to string the club along hoping for more money.

Not for this year mate. Couchies aint enforcers. Loko Jr and Finau Latu may be given a NRL debut. Big deal. Down the track I see Jake as our enforcer. Reminds me of a young Addin Blake. Gotta say if we dont pick up a big experienced bookend with skill and mongrel, then other than Jack and the Couchies we are fielding a second tier forward pack. And if Ilias and Kyle dont click, sad to say, we are spoon bound.

Couchies aren't typical enforcers but are big enough. Both bigger and faster than Penriths 4 time premiership winning front rowers. Though Penriths are built closer to the ground. Shorter but thicker. Like Frank Molo.

Just hold that thought ....... I heard different ........ Let's wait .......
He will go to Canberra. Even if they are paying overs for Tamale and other young players, they must have huge money left in the cap. All their big names have moved on, retired or are retiring a the end of next season.

Just that no one wants to live in Canberra.

We need a big bodied bookend, My 1st choice was everyone's 1st choice, AFB, alas our little brother trumped us. Didn't think we would get RCG and we didn't. Now Thompson is really the last decent experienced bookend available. Although 11 hit ups a game avg 103m, PCM 44m, isn't really going to cut it. Is there any chance someone at the club could tap F Molo on the shoulder and ask him to take his aggressive behaviour out of the house and onto the field? His stat's are worse 10.5 runs, 94m, PCM 37m is simply not good enough. This is where we will again struggle in our go forward momentum.

Surely nobody would expect the Couchmans to be enforcers. You don't have to be a bookend to be an enforcer. You need a decent sized forward who has the mongrel in him, he is also a protector, takes it personally on the field and most importantly he could run the ball hard and hit like a sledgehammer in defence with a excellent tackling technique. We haven't had any forward with those qualities for I'd say 10 yrs plus.

Beau Scott was an enforcer ........ Maybe someone like that as you say we need MONGREL ........

One of my favourite players that ever pulled on the red v. Bennett gave him and Costigan the job of protecting Soward after the media called him a speed hump the previous year unfairly so, and the next year we won our last GF. Exactly the type of player we have been lacking. An enforcer is just as affective with or without the ball. Have we got anyone of this ilk coming through?

Costigan and Neau Scott had more mongrel than the local pound.
