Lomax is the first?

Second is Kyle?
Nope, the secret discussions are going on now.

In the meantime, the Lomax game day details have been released by court official;

IMG_1552.jpeg

Let’s hope for good weather to get a solid crowd in.

So far as I know, no-one’s got the broadcasting rights.

The learned Supreme Court Justice hearing it may reserve his/her decision so the result it might not be announced on the day.

They’ll be no big screens with kfc being munched on while we wait.

Any appeal, I hazard a guess it’s off to the High Court to seek leave to be heard to argue “ the vibe of the thing.”!

So there could be a replay of sorts.

I would be happy for us to sign Lomax and give him a run at fullback, like he was promised many years ago. I am quite certain he would have been better than Slone. If he goes to Melbourne and gets to play fullback there and kills it in that position and even plays origin at fullback. It will be a hard watch for us Saints fans. I would also take Lomax at fullback over Fa'alogo, who is yet to fully impress me. Fa'alogo may turn out be be a good fullback, time will tell.

We disagree for the first time alas.

He abandoned his post when desperately needed.

There’s just no coming back.

Hi Frank

I think you mentioned the year 2011 in another post. The year that Bennett last won the comp was in 2010 and not 2011. 2011 was the last year that Bennett coached the Dragons and they finished in 5th place then losing in the qualifying and semi finals to Wests Tigers and Brisbane Broncos respectively.
Yeah, sorry about that. I keep getting mixed up, with 2011 being Bennett's last year here and that being the last year of us making the semis before our wilderness years,, with the exception of 2018. I will correct my post. Thanks for the correction.

I still find it difficult to believe we finished 5th on the ladder that year, after leading the comp and one bookmaker, namely Sportsbet paying out on us winning the minor premiership halfway through the season, because we looked certainties for the minor premiership. I had backed us to win the minor premiership with another bookie and for a decent collect. I think when Bennett signed to coach Newcastle in 2011, he switched off and started planning/recruiting for Newcastle and handed over the reins to Steven Price. At the time I think I thought we should have signed Michael Maguire, who was coaching in England at the time.

Do you see Wests winning a comp with Bula at fullback? I don't see Bula as the fullback who is going to win Wests or us us comp. I certainly don't see him as a million dollar a season player.
I will add that Wests are overpaying Luai to the max. He is on 1.2 mil a year. I think he is only worth about 800K a year. I don't see Wests winning a comp with Luai on 1.2 mil a year and Bulla on 900K a year. They will be lucky to make the top 8. I think Terrell May is one of the better props in the game and his brother may develop into one of the better centres in the game over the next couple of years.

To anyone who thinks I am taking the conversation of thread topic. I am replying to Dragons Chris and talking football. I will also add that I respect everyone to have their say and express their opinion, even if I don't agree with it.
As I said in another post Bula won't be going anywhere in my opinion it's his manager playing games

Ok, well strictly speaking it’s not totally SGI related.

I’ll talk in a cryptic poem riddle thing as I’m not sure it’s public.

I played at SGI
Then I was moved along
At my new club I did say
I was unwanted by Flanno.

My time at my new club was sad
Not so many games
I fell out of favour too early
Alas, it was all in vain.

But I’m only being moved along
To make the extra room
So my club can buy another player
As part of their new broom.

The player is tough had injuries
Now lives near surf so gold
But secret meetings are being held
to bring him back to Sydney cold.

That can do for the moment, there’s two players for you to have a shot at plus 2 clubs involved!

Good luck!

If anyone wants to guess…

I can pm a moderator with the answer to keep me honest at their request. But they need to swear on the memory of Stoney not to reveal anything. That’s a pretty sacred vow I’d say.

Lachlan Ilias is now with the Titans but surely we don't want him back.

I’m not where Ilias came from, but no it’s not about him.

Flanno was very diplomatic about him. Too diplomatic if you get my drift.

It seems to me that IIias was immature and didn’t follow instructions.

Yep, I certainly get your drift. Iliias wasn't good enough. He was a poor signing. I recall Cook recommended him and also reading on other forums posters saying he had the likes of Cody Walker and Mitchell overriding him at Souths. I thought OK lets see how he goes. Then when he came to us, he was just as underwhelming as he was at Souths. He was given 7 games and didn't very little. He was just a kick and pass player. No running game and couldn't even ice games when we were up by 12 points. Then he and Anasta complained that he wasn't given a fair go and that Flanno was favoring his son. That hurt our image. I think Kyle is better than Ilias. Then Glover also began singing the same tune as Ilias and Anasta when he signed with Souths. I don't think Glover will prove to be a lose either.

I think Brodie Croft would have been a better signing that Ilias. Doueihi was also mentioned as a possible recruit when we signed Ilias. I also think he would have been our best option, but he had been injury prone and had played little at halfback or 5/8 for Wests in the the previous seasons. When Doueihi was given a crack at halfback for Wests last year, he was playing some very good football. He is probably the key to Wests making the top 8 this year, if he can stay injury free. Last year we were said to be interested in signing Doueihi to play lock for us, which I thought was a stupid idea. He also knocked us back last year and wanted to stay at Wests.

Croft is also way out of his depth in NRL first grade but in hindsight, would've been better than Ilias.

Luai is on overs but it landed them the May brothers and Turuva so if you’re the tigers you’d cop it. here’s hoping Kolo has the same effect on our recruitment.

You’ve come back into form Frank!

I think he had some early promise at Souths, and if memory serves, he was seen as some kind of juvenile lessor horned Adam Reynolds.

Which reflects extremely poorly on their footy department, the master minds who have pushed them off a cliff since their gf loss.

He was signed to SGI with all good intent and then given amazing opportunity which he couldn’t quite grab, I think he made bad decisions that weren’t in the playbook and he represented too great a risk to the program.

I’ve got nothing against him, he’s just unsuited to teams that need to fight for every inch of enterprise and perhaps, teams of marquee!

A depth signing, I prefer Kyle, because he will do what he’s told. Kyle could be the most factory player ever but he’s not going to stray too far from the game plan.

Note that Flanno said re central coast on official, players pick themselves. He said all the coaching staff would choose the same players by independent observation alone. Very interesting insight.

And if a player manager is openly criticising you ( Braith about Flanno) that’s probably a notch on your bench post.
When players and player managers start publicly offering negative opinions about the team and selections, it's over. We have all seen it so many times. We don't want those kinds of people around a team. In fact, I was surprised to see Ilias and Glover take that route. Poorly-advised young men. It is a red flag to recruiters.

Glover is not same as Ilias ... Glover was told he was next to get a chance, was told earlier in the season he was in front of LKT.
Controlled reserves all year as a proper 7 when 1st grade needed a 7 .. didnt get a chance at all because daddy preferred junior.
Justified in his decision to leave and be disgruntled - however the choice of club to go to a bit interesting considering the depth the bunnies have in halves/

I think glover would have gotten opportunity if he was staying, but as soon as he signed elsewhere, Shane was basically f*** you, not wasting games blooding someone else's young halfback.

Whether we had any actual interest in signing Jonah for 2026 is another question.... Knowing that reed was coming.. But the fact that we bought O'Neil makes me think maybe we were..

The plot thickens.

I can understand the clubs reluctance to invest time and resources in players who aren’t here for the long term.

It must cost hundreds of thousands of dollars to bring a promising youngster up to even factory standard.

That would be a consideration for retention. How much the club has put into the player and whether it’s been value.

Within individual variables, what’s an acceptable pass mark?

I have a mate who got told his nrl footy ambitions were over. 5 or 6 years later he’s eternally grateful for the honesty of that coach. It might spoil the story for some, but my footy mate rated Hook. I think you can have good footy minds out there that can’t quite find their way at certain clubs and so forth.

Hes playing in the Penrith A grade this season as he loves footy. Training is a lot of running and even more running during the milder summer evenings. Horses for courses!
