I didn't know Terrell met with Flanno. That is another one who knocked us back. Terrell would have been a very good signing. It is a very long list of knock backs and the knock backs were happening long before Flanno took over. We can go back to 2012, when Craig Young was our recruitment officer and managers were said to not like dealing with Young, saying he was gruff.

This is a Code Sports video on Youtube. They are suggesting we buy Brimson and play him fullback. He is on around 900K a season. I think fullback is Brimson's best position, but am not sure if he would be the answer. Would he be better than Bula? After a moments thought, I think I would rather wait for Burton than sign Bula or Brimson for 900K a season and have them blocking Burton's path and taking us lots of salary cap. In saying that, I do think Brimson would be better than Gutho for us at fullback and would take him over Bula. In the video, they are also talking about how Gutho provides leadership and there is a massive void of leadership at our club. They also mention the idea of moving Gutho to centre or 5/8.

Flanno has underperformed in several areas, particularly in match planning and player development. However, I don’t attribute the recruitment issues to him. He assumed that responsibility only because the previous administration was totally woeful and recruitment staff left the roster in a poor state. With DA now overseeing the process, the overall squad profile should continue to improve.

Flanno won’t have the time to see it improve that much. If he doesn’t make meaningful progression this year or next he’ll be gone

You can’t go 4 seasons in a row of missing finals and keep your job no matter how weak the roster is he ‘inherited’

Story in the Telegraph about how Cobbo was all but signed for 900k a year for 5 years until he met with Flanno who started dithering about what position Cobbo would play.

900k for 5 years for someone playing QLD Cup! Flanno was probably lucky Cobbo didn't like him.

Though there is a lot of, "it is believed" type language while acknowledging those who would know refused to comment. So it's probably a lot of BS.

If true, it shows how dangerous Flanno is. Throws big money and big names. Doesn't think about tomorrow. If we had spent that on Cobbo, we'd be in a cap hole for 5 years.

So it sounds like we can add Cobbo and Terrell May to the list who have knocked us back in recent times. The list keeps getting longer and longer.

I actually thought Cobbo would make a good fullback when he debuted for Brisbane. He was being spoken of as their future fullback, but then Walsh returned from New Zealand (I think they were based on the Gold Coast during Covid) and Cobbo didn't get to play fullback. He then put on quite a bit of weight by last year and wasn't looking like a fullback any more. I think he trimmed down or toned up a bit over the last year. We had Gutho signed until 2027, when negotiating with Cobbo, so Flanno probably had Gutho penciled in as fullback until then and that may have had something to do with Flanno not being able to say which position he was intending to play Cobbo, especially long term.

Well if all these blokes rejected us, they rejected the coach you want to give 5 years (that's half a decade, Frank. I hope I'll still be alive) to, to not even win a premiership, if I understood you correctly.

You never got back to me. I asked if you would give Benji that long.

Yeah we were going to give him 900k a season but didn't know where we would play him, maybe wing. FMD.

Looks like we are entering the news cycle of make up anything to put shit on the Dragons.

Media do it because they know we have so many dumb fans that eat it up.

We had not made the semi for 5 years before Flanno took over. That's half a decade. When Flanno took over, we weren't looking like making the semis. Before Flanno took over, I was already thinking I may not see Saints win another comp in the next 38 years or so.

As for Marshall. I didn't think it was a good idea for Wests to appoint him as coach, with no prior coaching experience. There are still people who are questioning if Marshall can coach, including Wests fans (he calls them Tigers). The fact that he has been able to recruit well has certainly improved his chances of be successful. I was talking to a Wests fan this morning and he doesn't think they will make the top 8 this year. He said they might finish around 8th to 10th, but injuries to Taylan May and Luai don't help their chances. Players such as Makasini coming along help their chances and Samuela Fainu developing also help their chances. They will certainly be much better positioned next year, than when Marshall took over. Like Flanno, this is Marshall's 3rd year as coach, so I probably would give him until 2028 if I was in charge of Wests.

How long do Parra give Ryles?
How long do the Gold Coast give Hannay?
How long do Newy give Holbrook?
How long do WA give Meninga
How long do Papa New Guinea give Peters?
How long do Nth Qld give their next coach?

The Wests fan thinks we should be located/based at Kogarah.
