Would have gained nothing from him coming to us immediately tbh, he’s not gonna move the needle enough for us to win 50% of our games. There’s so much more that needs to happen for us to win games consistently

agree, if the relationship has soured to the point they want him gone.. they have other options.. but yeah lets see.
part of me didnt want him to come early anyway and have a bad 4 months.. new team new year next year.. new coach.. just would like to reset the streak before then if possible..

One of the positions I continue to have no idea how to assess is Hooker.. to me Cook is continually one of our best players in every way.. hes one of our only sparks in attack.. and this is a 34yr old playing 80mins in the middle.... and still one of our best in attack...
I know Liddle is a talent also, certainly coming in against tired opponents he looks great (as cook would though).. but Cooks acceleration is elite.. in terms of ball service is he not as good? I mean hes an ex-rep level hooker.. defensively? I mean he is a smaller body.. but yeah I just dont rly understand why he wouldnt be a great addition for 2027.. but no other NRL squads picked him up either..... maybe clubs are concerned he will go off a cliff in the next 18mths... but I still like what I see.. and would be interested to see him in a better squad.
I guess I hope that Watson is an improvement.. its a change atleast.. the way he spoke to the media tonight, it'll definitely be 12mths, he's bought the PNG Koolade.

Imo Liddle is a better runner but Cook has better service. Watson isn't at their level at hooker but is more versatile and a better middle. I can see lidds playing 50-60mins at hooker then Watson jumping in for 20-30 mins & another 20-30mins at lock. Something like a 50/30 split with Lidds and a 60/20 split with Stewart.

We should SERIOUSLY be looking at a play for Lomax to come back before June 30. Offer Su'a as a swap deal to parra, sign Lomax for 26 & 27 with a club option for 28. Flano is gone, he has all his mates and his home on the south coast, it should definitely be on the radar.

It's hard to get someone for 2026 only.. Lomax included.. we will have to sign said outside back for 2 or 3yrs minimum.. which means it needs to be someone we r happy with.. not another Tu, Allan, CT, Lawson, Rava etc.. we havent shown enough respect to the OB position in recent years... kept going for veteran speculators.... and it keeps clogging our Top30 up..
I would prefer someone faster than Lomax also and cheaper.. but yah I have said for years that the lack of 1st grade serviceable wingers/centres has rly cost us in recent years.. we didnt need superstars.. but we miss every half-chance we create...
