I guess especially Gutho and Holmes leaving along with Kyle will free up a truck load of money for the backs.

100% it will .. We wont need to spend any of it really on forwards unless fillers - the bulk of the pack is in place for years now.
Gutho/Holmes/Kyle/Suli .. you would be pushing well over 2m and closer to 3m on those 4 players ... that can buy a decent 3/4 line

Nick is a blunt instrument with the guile/subtelty of the juggernaut.
It is definately something we dont really have in the pack - that absolute animal.
We need a right edge because my opinion is Egan works better on the left.
Nick could do that for us if we cannot recruit better.

In the next 2 years, he's going to become one of the top 3 big props in the comp. Seems not fair to compare him with smaller props like Couchman's who are basicallyca different position in all but name.

This kid barring injuries, learning his trade next season behind an alpha male prop in KK will give him every opportunity to become the best player he can be.
Don't forget props don't usually come good for at the very least 3 full seasons in 1st and not usually until they turn at least 25 yrs of age.
If he develops as I hope he will be our prop for many years to come and become a representative player. Time will tell if my ageing coaches eyes are still any good.
Been unlucky with injuries this year. Fingers crossed he can string a few games together and get a run in the last 2 or 3 games

I will say that its hard to know the value of said young forwards in 1-2-3yrs time.. they may start demanding more serious coin.. and maybe we cant hold onto them all.. it is what it is.. there are so many.. Stewart, Egan, C1, C2, LPT, Jacob, Nick, Webster.. they are relatively cheap now but a couple get picked for the blues or australia at some point and woosh....... KK is the only one locked down for the very long term and premium dollars. Kade Reed could also create some issues if he comes on fast.. but they are the sort of issues you want to have...
Flanno sure didn't.. he had heaps of chances in 2025 to get him game time... I dunno what Young thinks, but i personally think its purely injuries that are holding Nick back.. I think if he actually put together a block of 6, 10, 15 games.. he will start to get back to his best and demand selection off the 1st grade bench at a minimum... still think he may be a middle, but it could be later in his career..

Got to say i had him pencilled in as 99.9% gone after the Vegas incident and then followed up with i want a release request, kudos to all who turned it around and got him signed till 2029, have to give credit when its due..Amazing.
I don't think anyone would've predicted this when he was left off the plane to Vegas, let alone when his manager asked for the release. Huge kudos to DA for getting the deal done and we must also give flowers to Dean Young for this. Loko was heading out the back gate and Dean's convinced him to stay home without even looking over the fence
