Sloan has been good over the last few weeks and while I don't like to defend Hook or Flanno, I can't blame them for Sloan who has been poor for a long time. He was probably promoted a bit too soon.should keep both and get rid of young flanno also sad to see sloan leave just starting hit his straps after being treated like crap from hook and flanno sr
If anything I think he deserved a permanent spot on the wing this season after being our leading try scorer last season. Alas Flanno went and bought a few plodders and said pre season that Fale and Tu would be the wingers.Sloan has been good over the last few weeks and while I don't like to defend Hook or Flanno, I can't blame them for Sloan who has been poor for a long time. Flanagan was a stubborn old bastard who was stuck in 2016. Didn’t evolve with the game and he paid the price dearly. IMO Sloan and Ramsey would've been a good stop gap wing pairing while we waited either to sign better replacements or for some good young wingers to emerge from pathways.
More often than not Flanagan missed the obvious solutions.
He's had a couple of good games. Not even that good. Letting him go is the right decision. You would have to think it would require Suli to be shipped off
I know I'm too aggressive in calling for young players to be called up but Flanno was unbelievably cautious. Cocuhmans were up there with JDB for the best forwards the year before Flanno was appointed. Then the first thing Flanno did was bump them back down to Cup declaring they weren't ready yet.Flanagan was a stubborn old bastard who was stuck in 2016. Agree let him go doesnt do enough , has no step for a centre in the modern game ........Yep it’s time to let Suli go, any player who’s been crao for an extended period and has 2-3 good games in a row people can’t forget what happened the previous 50+ games
He’s on a pretty sizeable wicket too and his production isn’t worth the 550-600k salary
Move on and get a younger guy in who’s maybe 75% the player but potentially grows to be a much better overall player
In regards to LPT last year when he first came on the radar I was speaking to his cousin up here on the GC. He told me that he was carrying a niggling knee injury as a result of the high impact contacts in 1sts and the pace of the game.I know I'm too aggressive in calling for young players to be called up but Flanno was unbelievably cautious. And this thing with LPT! We can all see how good he is and how "ready" he was. What possessed Flanno to not pick him? Was it something personal? He was very unprofessional in regard to Kyle. Even if Kyle was the best available, the way he used to continually say he is one of our best was so annoying.
Anyway, it's good Deano has the team improving and convinced those 4 to re-sign. Now all we need is a couple of outside backs to burst onto the scene like all the young forwards.
So if Suli goes we could retain Sloan and put him on one wing while Sami on the other. The 2 Esses. Although I did mention Suli so its the three Esses. Haha! Sloan and Sami will be a great combo.Heard from a pretty close source that Sloan wants to renege on the Castleford deal if Ryan Carr is sacked (which seem likely). He's been told there's no space for him here though
