Round 13 v Broncos Sunday.

If only! Where has the quality level of tackle by Sloan on a runaway Staggs been over the past 3 yrs. It had total intent and commitment plus perfect timing.
Its amazing how a player who had been sitting on the bench came on late in the game after witnessing the effort his mates had just put in and decided there and then Im not the one who is going to let them down and pulled off a tackle against one of the toughest centres to tackle in today's game.

Mug Fan Mug Fan I noticed Ben Creagh sitting in the back of the coaches box yesterday is that going to be a normal thing moving forward? I love hist hands on approach since he got the new gig.

I actually replied to you on this yesterday
Ben sits in when Willie is on Cup duties.
Doubt it happens next year under a complete coaching team.

Was a great moment for Sloan, fantastic tackle where plenty of others would have mucked it up. Well done Sloany

Not too sure about that. Still had a few errors, his hands are a nightmare and still gets caught out defensively in no mans land. Far from a keep in my eyes
I was sitting very close when the Broncos put up that chip and it wasn't the highest kick to my eye he just wasn't in the right position to actually attempt to take that ball, he looked more intent on putting the Broncos winger off.

It was interesting also to see late in the 2nd half when the comeback was on they targeted his edge/wing. The jury is out on keeping him in 1sts in the future

Credit where credit is due plus I was watching him off the last restart and how he actually positioned himself not too deep he could have played it safe and not run as deep as he did for the inevitable hail Mary kick that was coming. Also good to see it was our ex 7 who really stuffed that kick up.

Respectfully for the bloke, honest toiler, cup is his level. He’s played all season and still has a clanger or 2 every game, slow learner clearly. Hands like feet.

Mate he digs in and has a go every week. Definitely error prone but yesterday in front of me didn't shirk his task. Certainly doesn't have the sharpest football brain but was in position to score what was to be the winning try

Effort no doubt. Just wish he could clean up his hands. Yesterday there was a chance we go downfield, had the donkeys shot for numbers, pass at hip height and dropped it cold.

1st grade wingers need to nail those 100%, especially with no defender near him or in front of him. Don’t want to bag the bloke cause he’s out there busting his gut, but I still hold my breath anytime a pass heads his way, a bomb goes up towards him and when he’s bringing the ball back.

He certainly did and wingers who always in my day had the cleanest jerseys on at the end of every game need to get their 3 tasks right on most occasions, catch, run and put the ball over the try line in play. Not hard to do albeit they do a bit more these days.

Had a quick look at his stat's for yesterday 15 runs 150m 41m.post contact but the winger that I thought had his best game this season was Feigai, on that performance he would be ahead of TU if we had 3 fit wingers to choose from.

If only! Where has that class tackle by Sloan on a runaway Staggs been over the past 3 yrs. It had total intent and commitment plus perfect timing. If he can now pull off that kinda desperation in defense and we cant nail another quality outside back he could be a keep as a o/b/ fb utility. Tyrell is safe under the bomb, still super quick, has good discipline, game awareness/ball skill and still only 23. A no brainer.
I'd keep him for the time being ........

Feagai was great yesterday and showed some on here that he does have it in him to be playing 1st grade. In my eyes he’s in front of Tu everyday of the week

Sloan on that tackle was different, his angle of approach to blokes going down the sideline at times has been a little off and he has been stepped inside a bit too regularly. Seemed to get his positioning/timing right on that one yesterday and made the tackle. Was good.

One last word on what I saw yesterday in relation to our spine. Firstly 6 and 7 the number of times they were on the same side of the ruck was clearly evident to me and wasn't picked up by the Broncos defensive structures until too late.

Atkinson is a running 6 not a game managing 7 that was also clear to me. Atkinson kicking game was outstanding and some of the Broncos supporters said to me that they had no idea he had such a big boot, 20 kicks during the match 614m forcing back the Broncos consistently.

Flanagan ran more times and more metres than he has done for 2 seasons. 11 runs for 87m.

Both were instrumental in our win but it was on the back of our young engine room. Plus our 9 and who to my eye at the ground led that young pack forwards and also taking advantage of their go forward, Cook, 10 runs for 112m also his best figures.

So our spine, 1/6/7/9 ran for a total of 450m with Gutherson being the best with 168m v the Broncos who everyone expected to run wild and clock up big numbers made 350m .

Forwards always win games the backs decide by how much. Mark my words this pack with the addition of KK will be feared next season and for many to come injuries barring.
