Toby did as much on the edge last nite as he does in the middle. Has more room to move out there and to create more second phase. Good experience for him to play another position so I say keep him an edgie for foreseeable future..Couchmans are better in the middle than on an edge.
Still have Finau ahead of him. But a moot point now as SF does not seem to rate him or he just dislikes the guy. I see Finau and Liddle asking for a release. Two good players being shoved out the door.more class and skill than our other options
Has Liddle asked for a release? He's the best hooker the club has at present.Still have Finau ahead of him. But a moot point now as SF does not seem to rate him or he just dislikes the guy. I see Finau and Liddle asking for a release. Two good players being shoved out the door.![]()
Good you were able to watch it live George, I think a line in the sand was drawn against the Bronco's about giving up leads or at least fighting it out. Whilst it was generally a lackluster performance in the 2nd half, it was a generally solid defensive effort, mind you the Knights were not that flash either. Tough assignment next week, the phins will test us on the road. I would really like to see who the wingers are going to be.Good game last night and I was able to watch it live without the blood pressure rising too high. It was pleasing to see our forwards (with help from the backs) consistently reach the opposition 40m and beyond, taking the pressure off our kickers to come up with a miracle kick from within our own forty. Conversely, our defence generally held Newcastle within their own half. I'm interested if other members saw a change in Saints' tactics or was it just ordinary play by the Knights.
Yes Justadragon, it may have been pressure applied by coach Flanno to improve their overall defense, the effort was definitely there. The only other game I have managed to see live at the ground this year was the Anzac Day massacre, so this game helped to partially erase that nightmare.Good you were able to watch it live George, I think a line in the sand was drawn against the Bronco's about giving up leads or at least fighting it out. I was there too Anzac Day. I hope the coaching staff keep replaying that game to the group. I hope giving CT an extra week pays dividends. Him, Lawson & Gutho give us a back 3 who should be strong in the yardage game which helps with our territory game. It'd also help our middles save their energy for defence & more impactful carries. I really hope it's CT for sloan. Lawson to swap sides imo.
Replacing sua is a bit tricky. I think the safer move is replacing him with rfm but he isn't an 80min nrl standard edge either imo.
Maybe have toby playing both edges? Intial 20 on the left then luch comes on and he shifts to the right with rfm taking a breather?

For Sua it will but need someone to also cover the 30min stint on the other side as well, unless Luch is gonna play 80.It would have to be Couchman surely
This is likely. KF didn't have a really good game but much better than usual. As a result he's safe for the rest of the year. They should just stick with these halves to the end of the season, no more mucking around
let them form a combination, if LKT plays like he did in the second half and runs more (Flanno mentioned this on triple M yesterday) than it challenges the defence and keeps them in 2 minds
Probably true unless he said 'consistently good'. Gutho has been consistently good. Very good.Shane said Kyle’s been the most consistent player after Gutherson all season…..
