Anyway it was one of those games that you have to be both proud and yet frustrated. We ended up losing that game only in a way the Dragons can.

Cannot wait for next year ... this year is just the pergatory we have to endure before we can be happy about footy again ...
Add KK/Halangahu and another edge forward for Luc/Cake/Kerr and you have a proper pack ... (or keep Luc on a budget but that seems out of plans)
Add Metcalf/Watson/Drinkwater and you have a proper spine
Add Sami to the backline and you have 25% of a decent 3/4 line (as the great Marvin Lee Aday mused - 2 out of 3 aint bad)

Played much better BUT
We can't score from open play, all our try's are from kicks, i can't even remember looking like scoring a try from open play in this game.
We also go too sideways but nobody is straightening up to stop the defence from sliding and easily picking us off

Hamish tops our r/m for the first time beating both Couchies. 168, Toby 164, Ryan 142. Next best was Loko 128. Ryan topped the tackle count with 54, Hamish 40.

Why do you have to hurt me like that
I think Val is more to blame for losing that game than Kyle. Wasn’t an easy ball to grab and score in my opinion, was in mid air and body screwing as he tried to catch it. Plenty of others would have had the same result.
Val goal kicking again and missed tackles, Tu’s error in goal was very ordinary and Smith should never have scored, or more like a first grade winger doesn’t make that error, standard Tu right there

Way to casual initially then went oh f uck and next thing Smith gets there. Just woeful wing play in my eyes
They created a lot of chances from open play. You need the threat of kicks to open things up a bit, especially if they are coming up quickly. Walker’s kicking game took NSW apart. But they have been making a lot of ground through the middle with very few offloads.

that entire play had a few issues from us ... in the initial contest for the ball, atkinson was in no mans land, and could easily have positioned himself into the bat-back zone for the catcher ...
we obviously dont train on where players need to get to on bombs/short kicks ... We obviously need a catcher and one or two getting into a block position but the one we often dont get is that "ruck rover" kind of bloke who anticipates the opposition player batting the ball back into that dead zone and positioning in there. It contributes to why we suck on short drop outs as well.

If we had some attacking backs we would win some more games ......... The young forwards are great work hard get us into a position to be able to score tries but our backs have got nothing ......
