Round 17 vs Eels

Su'A back and Toby to middle is just about our best pack.

Cup have two games for Finau and Ilias to press their claims for selection.

What a shameless our wingers have been this year, form and injury wise.
Sloan has gone backwards every game, at this point I'd swap him for Rava.

The OBs will be an interesting selection.
So after watching the CS game in February I was thinking that young Finau had elevated himself in the pecking order to grab a 1sts position, 4 tries in any game at the very least shows promise no matter the opposition.

So what has happened to him Mug Fan Mug Fan ?

Agree young Couchman is a middle forward or nothing.

Nick T stays in centres; Holmes to the wing (he drops the ball too much in the centres; ,Sloane dropped (after the high ball fiasco) ; Lawson dropped….

To practice : catching bombs; offloads, kicks other than safety first into the corner

PS—I would add Kyle droppped but we all know “best on the field” is not going to be dropped even to the bench
Unfortunately Nick T may have played his only game in 1sts this season barring injuries and suspension. In my view he should not retain that centre spot. Dont get me wrong this kid is a keeper moving forwards but not at centre.

Can you imagine this engine room next season:

LPT - Cook/Liddle - Couchman/Klemmer
JDB - Egan - Stewart - Nick T

If we can snag 1 alpha experienced prop that pack injury free should be able to match any other pack in 2026.

I don't know but something I noticed in yesterdays game. He had a really good game. Strong carries a number of times, safe under the high ball. But I noticed twice he rushed in off his wing, absolutely needlessly and tackled nothing but thin air. Why does he do that?

Lawsons trial match I think it was, pretty sure his class was on display.. might have been a chip and chase or something or some good hands.. but there is so much to learn and it may be too late to pick it up.. but he is contracted so at the very least we know hes gonna go at it 100%..

He definitely has excellent hands and is athletic.. I think he can be more than just a hard runner.. but meanwhile im not in love with any of the wingers in our system.. SFinau was my fave, but im just trusting there is a reason he isnt there.
There has to be some internal issue with Finau surely? As I indicated in reply to Mug Fan Mug Fan post after watching his effort in the CS, 4 tries, I thought that this kid had elevated himself in the pecking order to play 1sts wing.

Klemmer is only signed for this year. Gular, Lawrie and Sele are all still contracted. If all 3 can get moved on, and I think that's what Flanno wants, I think Flanno might promote Liu, Hutchinson and re-sign Klemmer.

Yes saw that as well, reminded me of Rav in his heyday always rushing in , when he hits you go wow, but when he misses which was more often than not you had your head in your hands

In that case I wouldn't re sign Klemmer. I believe our juniors in the forwards are one of the best young talent running around. I think Lui will be a great addition to 1sts in time. I struggle to find any club with so many promising young forwards. Find me 1 decent experienced big bodied prop that can see the future and sign with us and we will once again become a force on the field, one to be feared.

I like him especially his toughness, give him time. But we need to find speed in the backline. I cry everytime I see young Bostock and Tamale play, what if. Oh well you can't change the past but you can ensure it doesn't happen again in the future

At least a bench spot.
Can play edge, middle or centre.
People calling for him to replace Val is strange as Val is too dangerous in the centres & our only attacking light.

You say that yet we lost to them without Moses several weeks ago and we had a much healthier roster then as well
They had no moses last time we played them and we ended up throwing that game away as well, plus let Lomax kick the winning field goal just to rub salt into the wound, we were the rabble my friend.
Thanks. I'm well aware. With Moses I'd give us little chance. Without I think we should be favourites and were the better team last time.

Played well yesterday but last few weeks has been poor.
May have something to do with him signing elsewhere.

Hard to get a full guage on him playing behind an inconsistent pack and paired with an average at best half.
He has shown enough to persist with, confidence growing each game. His try showed skills and determination that a FGer needs.
Agree he is still not there yet mentally, sometimes you have to have that light bulbs moment on the field that makes you realise wow I can match it with the men playing. I thought the try gave him some much needed confidence. To my eye he just isn't hitting the line hard enough with ball in hand

Another twelve point lead, another loss.

I have to admit the “ball did not cross the plane” decision against Shonkies was an absolute joke !!

But Flanno is just plain stubborn about wanting the team to defend when they have a lead.

Anyway, what about Cook or Liddle into the halves ?

Kyle must be in a good union as his job security is very high !!

I think he’s the only member though !

His dad is the secretary..
