I disagree. No need to increase spending, the only added expense would be the extra flight/accomodatiom costs which could be absorbed by the NRL. They could (and maybe should of) negotiated this in a deal to put it onto TV.

90% of fans don't give a f*ck about lower grades, evident by f*ck all fans turn up early when they play before FG.

Qld team would have to be added destroying the Qld RL comp.
How do Perth and PNG come up with a competitive team amd what ressie want to fly there for a game.

Half the teams are part timers who work.
Do we make them fulltime or pay their wages
Also the flying and accommodation for Refs amd officials and staff.
Ground hire is more plus staff and security wages.

What you effectively want is a second NRL comp that losses money, we already have that with the NRLW.

he pack is making him look the goods but when you watch our attacking structures especially inside the opposition red zone we are very ordinary.

Forwards are carrying us plus the odd individual piece of brilliance. I am referring to our final score line being competitive. Have we been thrashed since Young took over, talking about by 30 plus pts. Certainly nothing in our last 4/5 games. Take away ref blunders and we should've had two more wins.

Take your mind back to the 1996 gf, Brown v Ridge moment. Every dragons supporter has been screaming blue murder about “that” moment for 30 years, where the ref, David Manson, stuffed up and allowed Ridge to play on. Manly score the next play and basically end the game right on halftime.

Tu moment by the wording of the rule was tackled. Cole stuffed up by saying play on. Tackle was complete, Tu plays the ball and I’m pretty confident we score the next play.

What’s the consensus on Atkinson?

Gave him a grace period but Fark me he’s got nothing aye, even his defence isn’t great

From my own personal experiences you have a 6 and a 7 in any team that needs to compliment each other. They need to meld with each other's playing styles and have dedicated roles to play.

The problem with our current 6 and 7 is that they are at the very best both 6's. Atkinson has been given a very tough task after having played very little 1sts football over the previous 2 seasons to come in and play the role of a 7 which is foreign to him.

Throw into that mix Flanagan who was originally signed as a bench 14 player then being thrown in as a 6 and a 7 then back to a 6 its near impossible for Atkinson to play to his optimum level.

We will see the best of Atkinson next season when Metcalf arrives and plays the role of game manager in the 7 jersey but this will also take time to compliment each other's roles and playing styles.

Would love to see Atkinson in a spine with Watson/Drinkwater and Metcalf though to get a sense of whether or not he has anything to offer.

So these are the facts since Young took the reigns after round 7:

Wins - 2
Losses - 8
Avg points for - 15.8
Avg points against - 27.8

Based on this, based on his previous win/loss ratio when interim head coach he is not the person who I would be giving a promotion to as a head coach.

In fact if anyone applied for any head coaching job with a resume such as Young I very much doubt if any other club would even consider giving him an interview let alone gifting him the job.

In my personal view if he is gifted the head coach role because of the influence of the board directors this will set us back another season before we can become a competitive top 8 team.

He'll get a chance but if he isn't way better than he has been, a decent coach won't stand for it.

At least Atkinson isn’t on some ridiculous 900k pay packet if we need to shift him on in his 3rd and final year

Hopefully he’s a new man next year, running game has been non existent or not efficient is probably a better way to put it
