Round 23 - DRAGONS vs Sharks at Kogarah (Sun 4pm)

Dragons posted a clip of Sloan and Nathan Blacklock sitting down to chat about old Tingha highlights... and he saw all those classic moments of Blacklock lurking in the middle of the field, sniffing offloads and making breaks wellaway from his standard wing position on the sideline. Finally Tyrell did that his week. Definitely a tinge of sadness seeing him leave but sometimes, you just gotta.
Tyrell needed maturity and belief in himself and I think that his mentors have finally awaken him, plus he has stated that he loves Deano as Deano has helped build up his confidence. A bit late now but really good to see him play with so much more aggressiveness and power. Best of luck Tyrell in Super League.

Overall the game was a good indication as to how the boys "can play" and if we were given some better 50/50 calls and we cut out many errors, we could have won more this year, but it definitely looks like we will end up wooden spooners, however, there are a couple more wins with this lot to end the year on a positive.

Talking about errors, why in hell did Gutho hit the ball backwards rather than catch and hold the ball when the Sharks half grubbered the ball from the goal line kick off and why didn't Sloan improve his position to place the ball down in a better position for his try conversion by Holmes - who missed that conversion. They are the two bloopers from this game, but Gutho did do well to save a try holding up a Sharks player and Sloan was quite good in general.

Is it just me or would anyone else like to know why the Sharks player didn't get binned when he held Holmes back from going for a kick? It was a deliberate foul in a try scoring situation. If the Sharks player wasn't there to defuse it, it would have been a penalty try. As he was, it was a professional foul.

Seems the be the story of our season mate. Put the shoe on the other foot and our player probably gets 10 in the bin. You could also argue the penalty against Kyle where he gets Nicho at the play ball should not have been penalty, Hynes moves from DH and Kyle attacks his arm. That is a shit ruling. So frustrating

Flanagan in my view is a 1st grader. He is not an organiser or game manager and certainly lacks attacking nouse. Originally signed as a 14 played 6/7, not ideal but that was his job.

Now he is a very good defender, last week the Sharks targeted his edge more than LKT edge. He made 25 tackles missed 0, tgats impressive, that definitely helped us win that game.

LKT is entirely a different player, runs the ball becoming more aggressive and confident, finally learning not to run sideways but straight also helped us win that game in an attacking sense. Made 17 tackles, missed 3 not really a pass mark in my view.

Attacking wise, chalk and cheese, between the two of them. Flanagan ran once LKT ran 8 times.

I don't know where Flanagan fits into the 17 , I doubt he makes it but at least we have depth now.
Stats in general and around missed tackles specifically are very misleading. How many flops did KF do and how many times did LKT engage the ball runner, then drop off only because help arrived and he wanted to get back in position for the next tackle?

LKT's defence over the last 2 weeks has been almost as good as any half or 5/8 in the competition. He should be congratulated for how good it has been not have people talking about how it's "not really a pass mark".

In attack, his style, which was never to "run sideways" has made the backline on his side look like a completely different proposition from the rabble it has been most of this season.

Don't know who you were watching earlier this season but in my view thats why LKT was sent back to ressies.

He was crabbing sideways removing the space from his outside centre and winger. Watch those games back yourself. His defence was awful.

Yes statistics can be misleading but he wasn't good enough defensively for 1sts at the start of the season to my eye.

He most definitely won't be playing 1sts next season but kudos to the kid he is learning his trade and that's all any coach can ask that he improves his game.

He has played well since being given another shot at 1sts and hopefully will lead us to some more victories this season.

Invest in glasses. That was KF and Atko, not LKT. He was dropped after one bad game, a game in which he was far from the worst.

Don’t need glasses thats my opinion and you have yours. In regards to LKT he wasn't good enough for 1sts when he played I believe it was v Cowboys earlier this season when we got flogged, he was dropped after that game.

Then against the Knights again he was awful watch those games. He wasn't running straight he was linking and crabbing making it impossible for the winger.

He had a good game against the Sharks , credit where credit is due, as I always do.
