Round 23 vs Cronulla Sharks

Now that is the spirit, courage and character that you look for when you are rebuilding your club and your teams .

Anyone that had any doubt that we have turned the corner in our clubs discipline and culture well just watch the replay of that game.

Any player on the market should have no doubt now that if they sign on the dotted line they are going to be joining a club and team that are heading out of the long dark tunnel that we have been in for quite some years.

Two debutants, one serious injury to a key player, many dubious 50/50 decisions going against us and still against all the odds we come out on top.

If your not proud of that effort then your a very hard marker. Very proud of the effort.

  • The effort we are playing with has been so good.. were pressuring and making good sides make errors.. and all this with what must be close to the rabbits injury toll now, 3 more have happened just this week.. Suli is season also with an MCL injury.
  • But the big thing is completion rate has been 85-95% for the last month.. thats why were able to stay in close games, that was the stat we keps stuffing up early in the year.. we were beating ourselves.
  • Still wish we could cut out Sloans knock'ons trying to catch bombs and his rushing out in defence.. he tries so hard to lose us games where we are defending with our ass$$es out for so long... kills me. That pass from Liddle also fmd.. 2mins to go in front and ur throwing flat balls in traffic.. thank god our scramble was so immense...
  • Dont really have too much else to say, I still cant believe we let Jack go.. but otherwise everyone was solid enough.. were just doing it on guts.. but we had that period where we had 40 odd tackles in a row on their line and struggling to score (30 of them were forward hitups), same as how the Canberra game went, but we did eventually get there... we are grinding.. and even if we dont score atleast they are on their line I guess.
  • Bit worried about Kyle getting the yips with his goalkicking.. 1from5 is his stat on right edge, seems better on the left where he can curve it in... but def needs to hit the kicking tee this week.
  • Allan back into centre next week with CT on the left edge.. it is almost last man standing however... not sure what Micks injury is yet, and assume Feagai is gone for a while..
  • Loved having Atkinson there to witness our win with his new club.. and f*** the sharks for keeping him not playing all year.. and thank god to break another long-running hoodoo... we havent beaten the sharks in forevever.. and f*** me did the ref find some crazy calls to try and get the sharks back into it.. stuff ive never seen before called that way in my life.

Best win for few years !

Can we request Ashley Klein does not control any more Dragons matches ?

Shonkies were going for eleven in a row !

You need passion to win football matches and the Dragons were breathing fire today !

If that is the rule for tackling the player in goal in the air then it needs to be changed.

I almost had a cardiac arrest when Hynes intercepted the ball….

If you read my posts from a few days ago, I highlighted the fact that we needed to repeat last week's 83% completion rate well someone must be reading my post because this week at oranges we were at 95%, one set short of a perfect half of possession football.

In the end 88% completion rate v 63% for the Sharks. Last week 83% v Raiders 64%. So as you correctly highlighted we are putting pressure on the opposition and they are making mistakes.

I always told my troops before a game have a healthy respect for your opponents but don't make unforced errors and gift them field position. Stick to our training structures and we are always a 50% chance of winning.

I'm now going out to Thai with a couple of bottles of wine and celebrate .

What a great Saturday. The most enjoyable game I have seen live since 2010. Then come home and read all of the true believer comments above, and I still have the replay ahead of me. I agree with just about everything mentioned and would just add our halves were much better that their opposites and young Flanno put in an amazing defensive display.

That was the last of our long losing runs also.. so great for Flanno to clear the ledger.. would still like to beat the Roosters in 2026 mind you, you can see how dangerous they are in that win over the Dolphins.. so much skill, power and speed in that roster.
