It would have been as simple as picking a team giving others a chance to win it and then getting everyone that has played their last game and allowing a lap of honor, thanks for the memories lets get 2027 on our way.

Pretty sure even Deano would love to get rid of him but will probably have to pay him out. No other club in the NRL or ESL will want to pick up any amount of the remainder of his contract.

Ya. Can't say this is the most pleasurable or productive act I'll perform today. But hey misery loves company so here goes
Maybe Lawrie is a dude that everyone likes, coaches certainly seem to. Maybe he shows up with a good attitude every day and leads encourages/supports/loves his teammates. Maybe by giving a local junior veteran a sentimental 10 jersey to finish off is more about culture-building and club-building for the future and showing we look after those who show such qualities. As far as Lawrie goes, there is also the idea it's better to give the Couchman's less minutes to reduce the risk of serious injury because they are in for huge years, next year. Lawrie can do that much more effectively than Kerr. Take the Couchman's place in the middle, I mean.
Anyway, this will be the last games for him, Feagai, Sloan. Hopefully for Atko, Kyle and Suli as well.

We have seen that when the middles on the field are Webster/Halangahu/Kerr we get rolled ... it is essential that a couchman plays from the bench next season so getting that in place this season is not totally ridiculous.
19 man team of which 17 play and 13 start ... playing 1st grade in any capacity has merit - this archaic notion of such and such must start .. meh ... give me consistant performance from the team and a high level for 80 .. not this high level for 20-30 shit for 20-30 reasonable level for the last 20-30.
If Loko/KK share 80 and Ryan/Toby share 80 then our middle will be effective at a high level for 80

Couchman's biggest strength is the ability to operate at a high level for a long time. The plan should be to have them play around 60. KK plays a lot of minutes too. Maybe can go with an extra second rower on the bench.

upshot of that is they dont need to, they can play less and deliver more.
outside your hookers there is only 240 minutes of game time for middle forwards ...
If Stewart/Couchie x 2/KK are pushing 60 mintues each then that is your 240 minutes before you even think about Loko/Halangahu.
Just because they are capable of 60 doesnt mean we need them to play that ... we have assembled an absolutely bitching set of middle forwards ... dont kill them - 40 minutes of top quality may be all we need.
