Round 27 v Panthers

I know I am jumping the gun but I just wanted to say my bit about the disgusting thing that the Panthers have done, in my view. They rested 16 players in last nights loss to the Bulldogs, who probably feel that beating the understrength Panthers was terrific especially with Preston scoring a hat-trick. Rack off! The Panthers handed the Dogs as a token of their association with the former Panthers assistant Ciraldo to cement their top 4 position (well that is how I see it)

In the case of of the Panthers resting their top 16, it is good for their chances of playing the finals from the bottom part of the top 8 and having to play in all elimination games to make the grand final - possibly finishing in 7th spot - made possible by bringing the rested 16 players to play with everything they have to convincingly beat us before the finals. Seems a bit unfair in a way but I am really hoping that our boys lift like they have never lifted before to get the win at WIN. Go the Mighty Dragons.

Penrith no doubt will be doing their darndest to win the grand final from below the top 4 which has not been done yet just like it wasn't done that a team would win 4 premierships in a row in the NRL like they have.

I'm really not sure how much the Dogs would have appreciated it. They needed to win this or the next game to secure top 4. Not sure who they play next week but beating a full strength or near full strength Penrith would have done their confidence the world of good. I think Melbourne are specials. Like Penrith a couple of years ago for their second and third wins or like or like Melbourne when they were cheating the cap.

I have been down this path before Dave, on both sides, my question is would we have done the same thing if we were in their position ?

I suppose we would - my bitch is that if they had have played their strongest team then the result could have been the other way around and as you probably know, I am not a big fan of the Dogs. I am not also a great fan of the Panthers as well.

I’ll never get angry at a team resting their players in prep for finals. The regular season is already too long and they’re in a position to do it. I’d want us to do the same if that was us

The word is they’re potentially going to rest a couple big names against us as well
Was hoping they might give a couple more a rest next week, but im not expecting more than 3 or 4 which might help but we are probably playing them 4 or 5 months too late.. would have been much more fun start of season.

But its at home so who knows.. keen to see if we can turn it around on saturday first, Manly are very beatable but need to see if last week was a 1-off or we have clocked off for the season... obviously getting 3 first graders back is huge also.

Then again, if results went their way, they could have still made the top 4. Seems a bit strange to me but let's see how they go in the finals.

Who cares, it's the last game of the year for us. It doesn't matter who we play, we should rip in & I think the boys will be emotional knowing it's JDB last game for us. I hope we smack em.
If tonight is any indication of who should rip in, it will be the Dragons getting ripped up for arse paper. As the commentators said in tonight's game, the season cant end soon enough for the Dragons.

It will be do embarrassing if their reserve grade team goes close or actually beats us. Only thing that is sure, it won't be the fault of the coach who is apparently doing a good job or his son who is apparently a good halfback.

We know that it will be JDB's official last game with us before he parts ways and takes up his future at the Eels next year.

For those who are hoping that he can run on and play in the last game against Penrith (one such person is RVH) will be crossing fingers that he escapes being suspended for the alleged hip drop tackle on Sipley in last nights game against Manly.

Good luck JDB.

Already on the plane to Bali or wherever they are going. Funny Penrith rested their players in the penultimate rather than the last game of the regular season.

I wonder if after the last 2 games, probably the worst 2 of the year to have us cemented in the bottom 3, will Flanno make any unforced changes? After playing not better that okay for a couple of games, Kyle's game has plummeted to even greater depths. I thought LKT was ok against Manly but might have been worst on ground against Souths. Obviously Kyle should be dropped before LKT but don't underestimate Flanno's blind loyalty to his only son.

Other than the halves, not really sure. Finau is fit, isn't he? It blows my mind how Flanno is so against this bloke. I can't see what it is he has ever done so bad. It was the same for Tamale and we see how that has worked out. It's all the more telling he plays in a position where he will be competing directly with Rickey's son for a place in the team. He's on his way now anyway so better keep in reserve grade for the finals.

Buchanan has been getting thrown around a bit. Needs to add a bit more weight in the off season but for now, I think form would warrant him not getting dropped though coaching staff might decide finals of reserve grade are more important than a dead rubber match in first grade.

If Stewart is fit, move him right into lock and move JDB to prop. JDB is still our best prop. LPT might be better than him next year but Gular, Klemmer or Josh Kerr most definitely won't be. If anyone can explain the decision to let him go, it would be much appreciated.
