Sack Flanno….

I would get Cleary, Bellamy or Webster as well. I'd also get Cleary jnr to play halfback and Haas to play prop. I'd get Farworth and McClean to play left and right centre. Wingers would be Coats and Bostock. Fullback would have to be Reece Walsh.

Then I'd stop deluding myself and look for practical solutions.
I said, get Ivan and Nathan as a package deal, we could even get Jet as well. Remember when Canterbury signed Hasler with a year to go on is contract and then got him straight away. When Penrith signed Cleary for the first time and the second time I am not sure if he was under contract with New Zealand, he definitely was when at Wests and they then got him early? Lets take a leaf out of Phil Gould's book.

As I said. Those are the coaches I would like us to get, even if it meant waiting until 2028. I would rather wait an extra year, if it meant we could get who we want than who is available. I would be playing the long game if it was Tim Watsford and thinking out of the box. Cleary is off contract at the end of 2027, so is Nathan. That would be the package deal to aim for. The coach isn't included in the salary cap. We should be offering Ivan and Nathan the biggest contracts a coach and player have ever got. The same applies to Bellamy, even though he knocked us back 13 years ago or so. Webster could bring Ford back with him and maybe even Boyd?

I do know it is unlikely that the Cleary's would sign with us, same with Bellamy or even Webster but we should at least be making a play for the best we can get. Leave no stone unturned. Open the cheque book.

After writing that post, I realised that Gould first poached Cleary while still under contract at Wests and then Galvin wanted out from Wests while still under contract and then signed with Canterbury. Maybe there is a way to get Walsh and McLean. Farnworth is off contract at the end of 2027 and Easts are already being linked to him. Haas just signed to play for Souths next year, so I doubt that one would be a possibility. Bostock could get "homesick" and want to return to Wollongong.

Ennis linked with a Head Coach job with Hull KR
Ennis must really want to be a coach to give up his job at Foxsports. I think coaching isn't a secure job, while working in the media is more secure and pays well. If his coaching aspirations don't work out, then he could probably get another job in the media. I just think of Peter Sterling. I thought he would have made a top coach, but he just kept his job at channel nine long term and never tried his hand at coaching.

You say you'd get both Cleary's on a package deal then you say you know it's unlikely they would sign with us a bit later. So lets say the Dragons broke the rules and offered Nathan Cleary over 1.5 million a year and he agreed to that, what would you do with Reed?

Feel like cheika would be a good risk to take for a head coach role. He doesn't have baggage from previous nrl gigs, he's been learning in a good system but has big club/country experience & could probably deal with our club politics. He's a rookie nrl coach but experienced in the world stage.

I don't know if the selfish people at our club would allow him to be selected, as he would probably challenge them too much.

Main thing is he would bring a complete fresh view on our players & hopefully game style. I assume he would've had experience with Ando at the chooks too.
Cheika, the Roosters assistant is what we need! Ticks all the boxes as long as have good technically minded assistants. Willie Talau must be a good pick for attacking coach. So who is going to be the defensive coach?

Him or Brad Arthur. Not against Hornby either. I know the results with old boy coaches haven't been good but it will continue to be bad until it isn't. No reason an old boy coach shouldn't succeed as long as he is independent of the old boys political agenda's in the front office.

Right now they have to sack Flanno! Then can turn attention to the long term coach.

I loved Hornby as a player, a bit like our Foran. Tbh I don't know if he's had heaps of success while at Souths. Whoever we get should be from a winning organisation. Even when we got Flanno, he had previous experience with us as an assistant. Hence, I want someone with little to no association with the club. Hook didn't work out because he was a hopeless coach & had the wrong combo of assistants.

Makes sense. He's not my first choice.

The players in our squad must feel really pissed with continually losing. I know if I was playing team sport and the team was losing most games I would lose plenty of interest and become a bit down in the dumps. Not knowing what is going to happen with the coach, who would he be replaced with, will I get the bullet, etc. etc. I know that a lot of our players are not the greatest and our coaching personnel are the same and that is why the whole kit and caboodle from footy manager, coaching staff and players will all be scrutinized and many let go and replaced.

Having a massive change will be detrimental to our results initially, but it is the long term (it just doesn't stop happening at this Club) that the Club needs to work out and that could be a monumental task for those allocated the job. Us fans will be asked again to be patient (at this rate I will be a patient in the loony asylum) and the whole saga continues.

These changes will involve lots of money needed for payouts, etc. lots of negotiations for quality players, having someone help with strategies and systems that will bring about success. All costing big money.

I think that Flanno will hang on to the end of his contract while the decisions on long term goals are thoroughly investigated and theoretically tested to ensure the next chapter of the RedV saga will not repeat itself.

If we could manage to sign Ivan and Nathan. It would be up to Ivan what he does with Reed. He could play him 5/8. Ivan could also bring Jet to play 5/8. Jet is rated very highly and New Zealand would want to keep him. I obviously rate Reed, but Nathan is the best halfback in the comp and signing Ivan would be one of the best moves we could make. Anyway, I doubt we could pull it off and it is just forum talk.

Can't pull it off and spending huge money on Nathan Cleary at this stage of his career while letting go of Reed at this stage of his career would be stupid.

I guess if that plan falls through you could always implement plan B and bring over Bellamy, Hughes and Grant. Geez what was I thinking

Should start a new thread called 'Fantasy Team' or something like that.

I said a package deal with Ivan as coach. I also mentioned Jet Cleary as part of the possible package deal. Jet has wraps on him similar to Reed. Time will tell who will turn out to be the better of the 2. I would certainly take Ivan, Nathan and Jet over Reed. Nathan is the best halfback in the comp and has several years ahead of him. If Ivan wanted to keep Reed and play him 5/8, I would be happy with that scenario. Nathan could be a future immortal. Ivan is approaching Supercoach status and would be a priceless signing. I think signing Ivan and Nathan would be the best thing we could do and far from stupid. If we happened to pull it off, the rugby league would would be praising and applauding Tim Watsford and the rest of the club.

I will add I would be happy if we just signed Jet Cleary to play in the halves with Reed.
