Sack Flanno….

I am hoping that given he was on shaky grounds at the time of extension.. that the deal had plenty of performance clauses built in for 27 and 28.. not sure however they could have anticipated April 2026 though as the date he would depart.

Reed keeps saying it is the owners that make the call (not the board), he said it was CYoung and Lancaster.. but I mean maybe they want to talk to the board first.. or maybe they dont need too.. the thing is.. its not just the sacking, but the appt of the interim also..

I've heard there is a termination payout figure, even at 4 or 500k it would still need some sort of discussion or vote.

It could be the full STI board or the owners decision, if so that would be the Chairman's, WIN Lancaster St George Piggott.
Young would have no say in it.

Its time ......lets hope the board is thinking big and will put the lazy past behind us.

We have been treading water for far too long, I would love to think today the club recognises this and with Tim Watsford and Daniel Anderson on board we can build something to be proud of. Hopefully Willie Talau is a big part of this and we sweep the rest away.

I wonder what they then based that extension on? Was it they believed in his vision for the team and the club becoming more successful the longer he was head coach? It would appear to me there has been a lack of due diligence here and as a result we are suffering
I actually give Tim Watsford a pass on this one. The club needed to land an elite level prop, and Watsford’s view was that they wouldn't secure a player of that calibre without an experienced head coach locked in for the foreseeable future. The side was sitting around seventh or eighth before the injuries hit last year, and my understanding is the late season slide was seen as circumstantial rather than a coaching failure.

I think it was based on giving the recruiting some basis of who would be the coach over the next couple of years. Still Flanno had not done that well up to that point anyway.

Brent Read on NRL 360 tonight said that Drinkwater is joining the Dragons he also said that rumours are that KK wants out of the deal to join us. My guess is he wants to go to the Eels and play with Su'A. KK was linked to go to the Eels but we gave in and granted a longer term so he signed with us. Ryles is going to do the dirty on us and by getting Su'a he will get KK to come to that Club. My views if the rumours are correct.

I don’t think there is any way Keaon can get out of his deal unless we agree to it which we won’t. Probably just worried he has no idea who the coach will be. Which makes the hire of the next coach so important to smooth over any potential concerns from recruits and current players/ juniors. KK would probably prefer someone like Hornby over Flanno anyways

The Drinkwater signing is fine, but the KK rumour is appalling. Hopefully it is just media speculation. KK would have been aware that there was always a possibility Su’A and the club would not reach agreement. Of course, all the other negativity surrounding the club cannot be helping. The postponement of tomorrows board meeting suggests to me that negotiations regarding a change of coach are currently taking place, and more time is needed to finalise a changeover.

Not sure but has talau coached anywhere else? Assume he'd want experience in a successful club too.
Going by our website -
The dual New Zealand and Samoan international has worked his way through the coaching ranks of the Bulldogs' junior representative for the past four years, which culminated in their SG Ball team qualifying for the grand final in 2018. This was his last year at the Dogs and joined the Dragons to coach the Jersey Flegg team in 2019.
