The Kangaroos '25 Tour of England discussion thread.

SGI NSW Cup
The 2025 Kangaroos Tour of England will feature a three-match series for the Rugby League Ashes, marking the first time Australia has toured England in 22 years. The series will take place at Wembley Stadium, the new Everton Stadium at Bramley Moore Dock, and AMT Headingley Leeds. The Kangaroos aim to defend their Ashes title, while England seeks to reclaim it on home soil.

Mal Meninga has thrown open the door to Kangaroos selection ahead of the end of season tour, confirming that ''Test spots are up for grabs" and that SOO form will weigh heavily in deciding who boards the plane to England.

Gotta say that making SOO form a top priority for the Ashes series has to be the main criteria for Kangaroo selection and is probably the reason I will watch the series this year after not watching a single game for past two decades, when the Kangaroo Ashes suddenly ceased.

Comments guys.

The Australian Kangaroos record playing the Poms, both England and GB on their soil and on ours is awesome from the 60s to the last in 2003. Since 1973, Australia has won a record thirteen consecutive Ashes 5 of those (1979, 1982, 1984, 1986 and 2003) being 3–0 series whitewashes while the 1988 series had already been won by the Aussies in the first two tests before the Lions won a famous third Test in Sydney 26–12 for their first win over Australia since the second test of the 1978 Kangaroo tour, a streak of 15 wins for the Kangaroos.
And for those oldies like me will we ever forget the Johnny Raper inspired 50-12 Swinton Massacre in 1963, still the greatest win (stand corrected) by the Kangaroos over our bitter enemy.

Wasn't there talk about these tours, in a more limited fashion, being on again? It wouldn't be a great spectacle to see Australia's B team best ESLs best teams by 80 points.

Prob on and off since the last one 22 yrs ago. This upcoming tour was to happen in 2019 as far as I know, but Covid buggered that.
We wont be sending a B team mate. Even if we did we'd still probably towel em up.

The Kangaroo thread will be having plenty of action in a few weeks. Do our Jaydn S'ua and Val Holmes have any chance to make the touring squad, given their previous rep experience. Both have been consistently two of our best.

Val must have retired from rep footy.

Poms must be licking their chops with news that they wont have Tommy Turbo to contend with on the Kangaroo tour. Cam Murray also and on top of Haas, Crichton and Ponga. Massive blow not having TT, one of our few genuine match winners. When was the last time he pulled on a Roos jumper, seems ages. Dont think Ponga has ever pulled on one.

Would you expect anyone to be there Edward, not the way we finished the season. The only bonus is we get no further injuries. To tell you the truth I'm sort of non fussed over the Kangaroo's, maybe things will change when we start playing. I'm focused on our recruiting and waiting for all these players to join our club :)

They are taking 24 with the bolter Gehamat Shibasaki (Broncos) after his big game in the GF. He is the first player with Japanese heritage to play state of origin and a grand final in the same season. Mitchell Moses is in after all, prefer him over Munster but wont happen.
Guys what stands out like tits on a bull about the squad.

KANGAROOS SQUAD:
Isaah Yeo
(c – Panthers), Blayke Brailey (Sharks), Patrick Carrigan (Broncos), Nathan Cleary (Panthers), Lindsay Collins (Roosters), Xavier Coates (Storm), Josh Addo-Carr, Reuben Cotter (Cowboys), Angus Crichton (Roosters), Tom Dearden (Cowboys), Dylan Edwards (Panthers), Tino Fa’asuamaleaui (Titans), Harry Grant (Storm), Keaon Koloamatangi (Rabbitohs), Zac Lomax (Eels), Bradman Best, Mitchell Moses, Cameron Munster (Storm), Mark Nawaqanitawase (Roosters), Jacob Preston (Bulldogs), Gehamat Shibasaki (Broncos), Lindsay Smith (Panthers), Kotoni Staggs (Broncos), Ethan Strange (Raiders), Reece Walsh (Broncos), Hudson Young (Raiders)

Reiterating my 17 for the First Test at Wembley.

Must be something going on with Ackers RVH, I heard rumors he wasn't a good trainer.
I can believe that Jd as he was clearly carrying too much gut flab in his last game for Flegg think it was and as he did not make the Ressie finals sides, figured it was either due to an injury or still unfit and sadly the last straw for his retention.
