The Recruited Duds 10 years

I was just thinking instead of gumming up our current recruiting and retention thread and whilst the news is a bit slow. Without going through a whole heap of stats who can you remember the club recruiting and it proved worthwhile and who obviously have been absolute DUD's in the last ten years.

Ok I can think of maybe Widdop and Sims (Tariq) as worthy nominees for good recruiting.

I'll kick it off for Norman, Hunt , Molo for bad recruiting, I think this list will far outweigh the good :)

All mine are not whether they are or have been duds but also value for money. The first on my list wasn't a dud but was worth 25~35% less than we paid him.
  • Ben Hunt (vale for money)
  • Tom Eisenhuth
  • RFM
  • Billy Burns
  • Korbin Sims

  • McGuire!!!! Possibly the worst of the lot. Even when he wasn't suspended or leaving us short by being sin binned or suspended he was crap.
Isn't it amazing that even just between us 2 there really is no mention of anyone that came to the club and made a world of difference, even in the last 5 years, who has there been. Goes to show what a wilderness we have become, lets hope DA can do something about it.

There are quite a number of "duds" signed by the Club in the past 10 years - one being George Burgess. Others are include Kaide Ellis, Viliami Fifita, Jack Gosiewski, Lachlan Ilias, Moses Mbye, Aaron Woods and of course those already listed above.

Very well done Dave , as we discussed the shit list far outweighs the great list, I was thinking also Nene McDonald and who could forget the marquee signing of Gerard Beale.

Yes, Gerard Beale. He was signed when Steve Price was the coach and stayed for quite a number of years at the Dragons. Yes Nene McDonald was a dud, so too Lachlan Maranta and Zane Musgrove.

I can't think of any more but I'm going to nominate the top 10 in my opinion considering how much money they were on.
  1. Corey Norman
  2. Josh McGuire
  3. He who cannot be named
  4. Frank Molo
  5. Moses Mybe
  6. RFM
  7. Gerald Beale
  8. Josh McCrone
  9. Aaron Woods
  10. Lachlan Ilias
No one really sticks out after the first 4. I mean the first 4 are way worse than the rest in terms of value for money.

Edit: Are we all being serious? Is there one name we are missing? Added with a rocket to No.3. At least No.10 was only with us for a season and hardly saw first grade.

Yes we know Ryan but we are going to remain calm on that one, thats why I started this thread as stress relief :) And as we all can see the Dragons havent really done very well in recruiting have we ? Still I ask the question who did we get that actually improved our team and apart from the 2 I mentioned right at the top I thought of Cameron McGuiness, but he was McPeanut's love child.

When I saw this he was the first one I was thinking of too. He wasn't "bad" but Mr. Peanut treated him like he was Cam Smith and Andrew Johns with a bit of Mark Gasnier rolled into one.

6 QLDers in the top 10. Almost 7 when at first I thought #3 is Ben Hunt. Value for money, he'd have to be in the top 10. I'd swap #10 with Ben Hunt. #10 simply wasn't in first grade enough to be rated.

Sorry mate, cant agree with this. He was paid an obscene salary to lead us, orchestrate our plays, take us to the finals and ultimately win us a premiership. He did not come within cooee or doing any of the three over 7 loooong years. He was not worth half of what we paid him. On the other hand, Widdop, the class act he replaced, delivered for us, only not a title and betting he wasnt on even half the coin we paid the nameless one, who without doubt wins the top gong from me as our BIGGEST DUD for the past decade.
