I can see that ...

For me .. i am keen to see a few things ... We are expecting Sele/Kerr to step up in 1st grade ... starting this game against a reasonable knights pack will be a solid hit out for them .. Unsure where Lawrie fits in with that but his new shape is a curiosity.

Also keen to see if any of the outside backs play with a brain ... even in a glorified reggies trial. We are wanting a pair of wingers for Vegas and CT/Fale/Tu/Sloan/Feagai all in the mix for that

Without some of the bigger names it does reek a bit of meh ... but if the boss is telling those playing that there are positions up for grabs they may take a chance.

I was thinking with Lawrie's new shape he might get rag-dolled in NSW Cup. But interested to see if that's right. Might have developed some footwork to get him between defenders, like the Couchmans.

The interesting selection is Reed starting 7 and O'Neil 14, would indicate to me Reed is next in line.
O'Neil to me is very much a Glover type Cup 7.
Full squad and I think he starts the year Cup 14 same as he was at Dogs when Woods passed him.
That is a surprise as the latter has played ressies last two seasons for the Dogs. The coaching staff must have a very high opinion of Reed.

I suspect, and hope that the plan is to give Reed the first half then bring O'Neill on the for second half, so each can be compared under similar playing conditions.

Expect the boys to be even quicker with them both doing sprint training in the off-season.
As I said in another post I can't recall the squad looking any fitter. We won't be losing early season games because of our lack of fitness this season. The game plans for the first half dozen games will be very interesting. If it was me I'd be playing safety first football and win the grind. Time will tell
