Trial Game 1 v Knights

Best player - Reed, cant kick goals but, Dragons a million mistakes, we won, make what you will out of that. The usual suspects who had nothing games, Overall its a trial, lets see what happens in the shield.
I know everyone has said it's a nothing game but just based on my experience I would say that those players that participated in that game wouldn't have the same mindset. It does mean something to them personally. Just my personal views.

Sent a few over the black dot in the first half. Missed 2 in the second half, one from the sideline and one he'd usually make.

I know he doesn't get the wraps of CST, Halangahu, LPT but I thought Ryan Hutchinson didn't let anyone down. For the first 20 of about 40 it seemed he was on, he did nothing but tackle but then when we got some possession he ran hard, made good metres but didn't unleash the passing or offload we know he has. I might be a bad judge but for the life of me, I can't see why he doesn't have a long NRL career in front of him.

Heidke didn't get much chance to show what he can do in attack but was strong in defence. That's fine. We all know what he can do in attack.

Buchanan was also much better than Fale or Feagai. Whoever he replaced.

SGI NSW Cup
Hard to know what to make of the game, especially without most of our players:
  • Obviously rly glad Kade had a big first hit out.. will do his confidence wonders.. but you can see how easily things can also not come off.. it can turn quickly. I am thinking they will play him in NSW Cup (instead of Flegg), O'Neill to hooker perhaps... I think after tonight I dont think ONeill can lay claim to the cup 7 jersey despite his experience.. he will fill in where needed.
  • Hooker injuries now: Connor, Liddle, Fagalilo, Hjaltason.. I reckon we might consider buying one for 12mths.. maybe O'Neill can help, just on O'Neill holy sh** his confidence must be in the toilet.. hes pretty experienced, maybe Reeds game has thrown him I dunno... its not easy to come into a game cold either.. ive seen that before.. getting the timing.
  • Thought Lawrie was heaps better with his leaner body.. seemed to handle things well.. def will play a role at some stage, not sure how many minutes.
  • Nick is a psychopath, I love him.. him and Halangahu I think could easily play bench roles whenever needed.. Leilua prob in front at this stage (if hes not the starting 2nd rower)
  • Sloans body looks great.. but I cant believe he finally had his opportunity @1 against reserve graders and he just did the same stuff.. its like he goes looking for knock ons or scoop ups and misses.. it hurts so much to give the ball back like that... and unless its a clear run to the line, hes rly doesnt know how to beat someone to score.. cant stand it tbh.. just play Tu or Fale or Heidke out there, CT if he didnt injure himself atleast helps with carries but yeah..
  • Felt like Fale was strong but went missing with his workrate, honestly I thought he mustnt be on the field.. it was always Tu doing the carries.. thought Tu would be faster when he got that intercept.. but he did enough... I mean 5m closer to the goals would have been nice but he was good.
  • Bit disappointed LKT didnt do more, hes the experienced half there and didnt rly contribute until the final try assist.. but maybe partially because Kade had the whip hand tonight and mostly played right.
  • Thought Kerr was alright, u can see his fast play the balls r his strength.. but someone else needs to do first hitups, Sele strong but ofcourse dont want to pin hopes on him staying healthy.
Everyone did alright, it was a trial though and giving out opponent all that early ball, we were lucky not to be punished, but credit where its due.. looking forward to seeing Atkinson next week for sure.. I know there is going to be a lot of pressure from fans for Reed to play.. but chill and if he plays later in the year thats great.. but u saw how wrecked he was after about 45mins, errors started coming in.. cause they will run big boys at him ALL NIGHT LONG.. plus he needs protection.. and that can cause other holes to form.. its one thing about Kyle he's actually strong in defence. But look.. if Cook gets injured just imagine the mess we would be in..

Just happy to get a win though, even if the Charity Shield goes poorly, we have something positive, maybe a team song not sure.. and something incase vegas doesnt go to plan etc.

I like the way LPT is progressing, loved that offload late in the game, means to me he's thinking about what he is doing not just running and falling to the ground. To my eye he will make it in 1sts
