It is with a heavy heart that I have learnt that a legend of the St George Dragons, Billy Smith passed away today.

I had the pleasure of watching him play at my very first Dragons game at Kogarah Oval in 1970.

In later years I met him personally a few times and he was always a gentleman. RIP Legend and God Bless

Vale legend. One of my two favourites from yesteryear that I loved to watch. My nuggety best mate was Billy Smith and lanky me was Chang in our street football games at about age 10 in the mid-sixties. Both of us in our Dragons jersey's; him mimicking a Billy Smith dummy and pass to a side-stepping Chang on the burst and scoring under the posts. Silly I know, but I'll bet now finally two of the finest Dragons to ever wear this mighty jersey that I love are together again and enjoying a beer.
