Where & When are we Playing All Grades

SGI NSW Cup
Most of the lower grade U17/U19 sides wrapped up a few weeks back but nobody has been promoted into Jersey Flegg yet.. usually 1 or 2 comes up straight away... the rest of the promotions kind of scattered over the year... I'm sure in weeks to come they will appear.. helps that Flegg is winning of course.

There's a few still at school that will move into Schoolboy Cup so no Flegg.
Connie and Alex (He may have some clean up surgery) Mason A
Leeroy already played, we shoukd see guys like CJ, Mason P, snd Kap start filtering in

Been such a crazy few days, forgot there were other grades on...

SATURDAY (Apr 25):
The U17 Prelim is the big one.. still no Api Amone which is gutting.. has been out for like a month it must have been a bad HIA.. but otherwise they r full strength.. wont be easy though.. Roosters are the only team to beat us all year, and they put away Penrith last week who had a crazy F&A.. but we are also in great form after beating the unbeaten Knights and had a well-deserved week off.

SUNDAY (Apr 26):
The 5 Failed HIA's from last weeks cup game is going to really mess our lower grades around... Hammoud has been playing well in Flegg and will get a chance to take the reins in NSW Cup.. that will be huge, plus hes a goalkicker which they desperately need if Reed is away.

No halfback named for Flegg currently.. not sure who would be next up, maybe they could grab someone from U19's like Marley..

Saturday 9th May:
  • 12.40pm - NSW Cup @WIN (On 'Fox/Kayo' & BarTV)
    • The return of O'Neill (after a long injury) to partner Quinn in the halves is great.. means the flegg halves can drop back to their grade.
    • Buchanan and Lawson in there also @ centres which is great.. still potentially Sloan or CT/LKT to drop back from 1st grade yet, but Sloan prob a good one to leave on the extended 1st grade bench... and let TPH play fullback.
  • 1pm - Jersey Flegg @ Collegians (BarTV)
    • Overlaps with the NSW Cup game, why i do not know...
    • Strong squad with lots of players dropping back, like Afu, Saifiti, both halves in Hammoud & Hodges...couple of the 19s kids in the squad again in Marley McLaren the young 7 and CMeafou the 2nd rower.
  • 3pm - 1st Grade @WIN

Hopefully it’s Kyle, Kerr and Lawrie that drop back too.

its tricky with the 6 man bench though.. I think Kyle is def 1 of those 6.. maybe not the case if Liddle and Cook are fit again.. Kyle also covers halves though... so maybe he stays unused for the rest of the year and we let LKT play some cup games.. or maybe Kyle/LKT alternate weeks..

Not sure what we will do with Kerr yet.. for sure thought he was in our 17 each week.. but pressure to select LPT/Jacob instead.. anyway.. we shall see... Kerr is another you can leave on a 6man bench and not use.. but we cant keep doing that or they will lose match fitness.. again maybe rotate with Lawrie..

I'd give the starting gig to Kerr, surely we have enough players that can play big mins effectively.

Saturdays Games (v Warriors):
  • 11am - Jersey Flegg (BarTV)
  • 3.10pm - NSW Cup (Fox/Kayo/BarTV)
  • 5.30pm - 1st Grade
Bit of a halves crisis currently with Hammoud and Reed out for long periods.. Marley Maclaren the U19 import gets his chance again in Flegg, with O'Neill in Cup.. does mean no goalkicker again for NSW Cup which sux.. that game is on Fox.

Ollie Burton named @ctr in Flegg also, but Borg (the fullback) seems to have his name removed perhaps the HIA is not resolved.. so maybe a late change.

Half the NSW Cup side also not named due to the injury crisis.. hopefully TPH drops back from the 1st grade extended squad.. Sele also.. and no idea who will partner Lawson in the centres..... not sure if we will see Metcalf make an appearance for the Warriors.. if the medical is cleared and the contract is done.. he should be good to start playing.. unless they rly r considering releasing him.. time will tell.

I reckon next week we will find out if he is released, probably waiting for this game to be over, will be interesting few days next week..

Luke told the player group he was all-in for a push @ the premiership this year, maybe not realising that he wasnt wanted..... there is obviously some bad blood between him and the club, so they may just decide f*** it we will back the 3 or 4 blokes we have (TMM, CHT, Cleary and Hanson).

I do agree though, they would be smart to keep him just in case.. but.. depends if they are finding him destabilising in any way, esp if hes made to spend the year in cup.. tbh for us finals experience would probably be better for his development vs helping us to eek out an extra win or 2 this year.

The Warriors fan M Mt Smart stated there was no bad blood between Metcalf, teammates, club or coach. It's just Boyd better suited the way they are playing. If my memory serves me correct.

No media or fans have reported bad blood.. but I've heard otherwise, and the way the whole thing has been handled so quickly and ruthlessly by the Warriors indicates (imo) its definitely not all love and good times between the 2 parties.. think Metcalf was made assurances which the club went back on.

That doesn't mean they are ready to boot him out though.. but especially now hes signed elsewhere.. his future is rly no longer a priority for them, and its just a question of whether they think they think they can work with him and make use of him this year.. perhaps we will see him in NSW Cup from next week...
