Round 15 v Sharks

Thursday night footy against the sharks. It doesn't get any easier for us. They're a better team than the dolphins & shouldn't be impacted by origin.

We need a tenfold improvement in our performance or they'll also put 50 on us.

I'd debut Nick T or Halangahu. I'd also bring Finau onto the wing.

I doubt any of this occurs apart from sloan onto the wing & either guler or sele for lawrie.

My team:

1. Gutho
2. Finau
3. Holmes
4. Suli
5. Lawson
6. Lkt
7. Kyle
8. Klemmer
9. Cook
10. JDB
11. Leilua
12. Couchman
13. Stewart
14. Liddle
15. Loko
16. Sele
17. Nick T

Yep, can see a nasty trend happening for the rest of the year. We are just not slick enough. Most teams can turn it on when needed and can dominate for most of the game. That is what is lacking with us. Look closely at our players - can you see any real match winners amongst them - who is the danger man? Who is managing the team and game? That #7 won't be any match with the #7 from the Sharks. No big hitters in the forwards.

Go the Dragons.

Hate to be a Debbie downer but I think Val will be unavailable due to origin. Corey Allen is injured so we are really screwed out wide now that CT is gone too.

1. Gutho
2. Finau
3. Lawson
4. Suli
5. Sloan

The sharks will win by 40. Finau is shot confidence wise, Lawson copped a touch up tonight, Sloan who was dropped and unwanted comes back in as we have zero options available. f*ck me my head hurts

Might be time to give Ilias and LKT a chance.

Might be an idea to try Sloan in the centres. So he can use his passing game a bit more than on the wing.

Jesus wept, another prime time game where we could get smoked

It’s an unpopular opinion but Debuting Halangahu just ain’t it against the sharks. He’s not ready yet lads. Still very raw and you don’t want him going up against a top 4 side like cronulla

The injuries have finally caught up to us and we’re just gonna have to cope with some tough score lines against the sharks/roosters etc over the next month or so

I'm usually ultra aggressive about promoting juniors. Probably, or certainly too much. But I agree about Halaganhu. Too soon. Maybe at the end of the season if we are out of finals contention, he can come off the bench in the last 1 or 2 games. Nick T on the other hand........ That's harder. The fact he's been playing centres in NSW Cup counts against him. But someone has to replace RFM. He's gone the way of Eisenhuth and Lawrie. No longer NRL standard. Maybe BMM will be recalled.

I hope people, especially those who have been or are currently involved in this club understand the meaning of rebuilding. Im sure most on this forum do.

Sometimes, more often than not as you build you find weak spots . You identify, pause, remove, then replace and continue your build.

History shows rebuilding a poor team and disciplinary culture takes years and always have speed humps that slow you down. Last night was a reality checking speed hump.

But in my personal view and experience we are heading in the right direction. It just takes time, patience and faith. The future looks brighter than any time in the last few years.

It is after a game like last night that you see just what your playing and coaching staff are made of, time will tell us that story.

Sele needs to come in at least he has line speed and impact, probably be Guler too.
Jacob will be named in under 19s on Monday so not an option and as pointed out Val for Qld leaves us with f*ck all options in the backs
Mate I honestly wasn't disappointed in Lawson efforts he got smashed last night but kept on dusting himself off and was ready to take the ball up again, in only his 2nd 1sts game. He showed toughness he will keep improving given the opportunity to do so.

The engine room was poor last night, 1,030m v 612m your not going to be competitive with stats like that. I think the time has past to be considering Lawrie as a starting prop. Young Couchman is not an edge forward. The engine room needs a very quick overhaul. If its too early to start LPT then JDB but I'd like to see Sele/Guler back in the fold, whether either are fit enough to start im not sure.

The backs well again I'm nor privy to the internal issues inside the club but surely Finau on 1 wing. Lawson held his own in the centres in ressies whether he's good enough to do the same in 1sts that is the question. Is Allen injured? What are our actual options? Sloan back as well?

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting something to change.

I'd bring in glover after the bye if Kyle has another shocker. I wonder if we move stewart to the edge and have guler into the middle. Our edges being stewart and couchman. This would add size in the middle but reduce mobility.

Need more consistent performances from our middles.

Agree with all you say Eric but guess what we are out of contention for anything.

We have been rebuilding since 2010 Jo, so if we are still years away god help us.

There would have been a lot of coaches looking at how Lawson handled pressure yesterday Jo, both in the air and on the ground. They would be targeting him all day, I dont think centre is the go just yet either, someone like Farnworth or Staggs etc would smash him bad just like Suli.

It wouldn't have been as bad if at least there was some energy and effort last night, but there was nothing except a parade of Phins scoring try's. If this game hasn't got a marked improvement in it, then there will be calls for Flanno's head, there is a strong sense of nepotism going around atm which cant be good for any team. I supported Flanno and still do right from the start but another hiding heading into the rest of the season will make it difficult to hold up Flanno's flag. Why cant we have a team that at least competes for 80min without capitulating. Very hard to see where our next win comes from, there is blood in the water and lots of it.

Should be given this year but without a big improvement from now, he should get sacked at the end of the season. Has the team stopped playing for him? It looked like that last night. The nepotism would be enough to put anyone off. This isn't the family business.

Look at his recruits! Luciano is so fat now. You think a second rower in a Bellamy team would ever be that fat? Then there is Eisenhuth, RFM, Kyle. Cook, Gutho and Holmes have been good but they are veterans on big money. They'd better be good! Should be much better than they have been! Sele has also been a dud but that's not Flanno's fault.

The only saving grace is the form of the young players who were at the club before Flanno.

He has some excuses. Frank Molo walking out. I don't think that would be bad at all. I was surprised Flanno wanted to keep him. But then Ryan Couchman then Egan and now Su'A. Forward depth is really being tested and found out. Flanno would love Frank Molo to be available now.
