Good interview.
- It's true the club has been good to Mr De Belin. He probably could have announced it in a more friendly way to the club but.....
- With his age and long service, he would have cost F/A under the salary cap.
- Who is going to take his place for next year?
- We know KF was brought into the club to play 14. It's not working out with him. Ilias and LKT should have gotten a chance long before now. Like from round 1 and almost certainly would have if KF's dad wasn't head coach. Then if it wasn't working out everyone would have accepted KF being brought in.
Illias had plenty of chances & he didn't perform, only has himself to blame. Heaps of fans said Kyle missing at the back end of last year was a big factor in us missing the finals. Ah, hindsight is a beautiful thing.

Excuse me sir. Mr Ilias and Mr King-Togia have played exactly 0 games together. Mr Ilias has played exactly 0 games for the Dragons in first grade without Mr K. Flanagan. He has had no chance!

in all seriousness though, I was impressed with what he had to say. There was a number of things that needed a serious and insightful response that Webb and others have just hit back with cliche’ responses and things we have all heard saying ‘dragons are in a good place mate nothing is wrong’
The most important thing was he had at least an idea of the pathways and who’s coming through plus where we can get better in that aspect
the mention of other teams having an army of scouts/indexing in comparison to us was the best thing to hear though. Gotta level the playing field by spending some money to improve ourselves and I’m keen to see what changes he makes

Illias played NRL earlier this season, that's his chance. He got his chance before LKT even after coming off a serious knee injury & limited pre-season. He got his chance as the main halfback. He didn't deliver, now he has to work his way back through reserve grade. Saying he hasn't had a chance isn't accurate at all, it just sounds like Kyle bashing again because the blame is being put on Kyle for Illias failures.

Was a great listen... he's a completely different cat to Webb, and although im conscious that big-talking (especially in the honeymoon period) doesnt necessarily equate to success.. hes definitely engaged in the footy and the club side of things.. possibly related to us missing that powerful GM or Recruitment/List guy who should be doing it..... as he mentioned, we are incredibly understaffed in that area.
He made it sound like some big name deals were done already (not sure if he meant staff or players however).. I think from here its just seeing if we can land some names.. thats been our issue.. we do identify useful players from time to time, often weeks later than other clubs have..... and we lose the versus battle with the better set up clubs.... but I think a big part of that is that we are always playing off the backfoot (i.e. reactively) due to Flanno trying to do everything in his spare time.. I think we would have more success being on the frontfoot, identifying what we need/available.. who we can move on... and getting in early before it becomes Bennett or Bellamy or Robbo or whoever has gotten in their ear... everything with us has been so last-minute..

Agree to disagree. He played in first grade. I know. His halves partner was Kyle Flanagan. It was a bad joke of a halves pairing. So coach dropped one. The right decision. Should've been done sooner. Since then there has been no improvment but has probably gotten even worse. Statistically, has been worse. So isn't it long past due coach dropped the one who has been there from the start? Why is there so much hate for Ilias? He grew up a Saints fan. KF grew up a Shonkies fan. Now he tries to gain favour by constantly kissing the logo. Taking us for idiots. Thinks he can turn himself into Dean Young. Not happening

I don't think it has anything to do with salary and yes as a long serving player we are eligible to use up to $350k or thereabouts of his salary which wouldn't be counted, but i think its more to do with Top30 spots, if he stays he takes up a spot as others have stated they're like gold those spots, we have 4 spots available for next year, we have Sloan, Lawrie currently taking up spots as well, which could be better utilised..Should we have signed JDB up again for 1 more year, Yes, if we had a stronger squad but we don't..

We're both thinking about them way too much, they both suck. I'm going to concentrate on LKT from now on. What an amazing running game against the Eels. Tidy up his kicking & ball playing then we've got a great 5/8th on our list.

No Sir, I can't agree I'm overthinking anything. Mr King-Togia is very promising but like the rest of the team and like Mr Ilias was, he's being severely handicapped.

I’d love to hear from Daniel Anderson about why he chose to leave arguably the most well set up club in the league to join us
If it was for a new challenge than fair play
hopefully they get him on the dragons podcast over the next few weeks and we can hear him outline his plan/thoughts etc.

I was told very many years ago by an old friend who was involved in these circles and he told me that for at the very least the last 7 yrs there was no real business connection between the player managers and the club administrators and that really hurt us in both retention and recruitment. It appears he may have been spot on
