Yep. An out of touch BOD and their coaching recruits Griffin and Flanagan have seen to that. Am amazed we manged to lure Gutherson and Holmes here, past their best yes, but still plenty to offer.

Everyone is disappointed by the lack of signings. Is Flanno to blame? I honestly have no idea what the issue is. Looks like Douhi is staying at the Tigers for 150k less a year. But I agree with jodragon40 jodragon40. Calling us a feeder club is throwing the baby out with the bath water. As they say. Just my views, as jodragon says.

And that is the nature of the beast. Back in the day there was a word, what is it? Um, ahh, oh yes I remember LOYALTY.

So if you were brought up in a junior system of a club the chances were good that the time and money invested in that junior would count for something come time you reached your senior years.

No such thing these days hence you see juniors locked in until they are 17/18 then both the club and player look at the options.

Now when you reach that stage of your career and you have been earmarked as having the potential to play 1sts then the 2 common denominators kick in, Money and the ability to continue to develop in a system you believe that can offer you success and perhaps a shot at the title within say 5 years.

I don't get the fuss over Douhi. Good player but hardly a marquee player.

Why does it look like Doueihi has decided not to join the Dragons? I thought if he signed with the Tigers, they'd announce it immediately but have to wait 10 days if he signs elsewhere.

As far as I remember you were a huge JDB fan but the opposite for Kerr. You think GCRV GCRV's frustration isn't justified? I would question the level of support of anyone who isn't frustrated unless it's the 1 in a million who thinks Josh Kerr is better than JDB. After Kerr basically badmouthed the Dragons only a week ago.

I'd have re-signed JDB and not signed Kerr, who was utter rubbish when he played for us but as has been mentioned over and over, has improved a lot. Unless Kerr was taking Lawrie's spot. But I think you will find it's a complicated business. Managing a team and the cap I mean.

As for Doueihi, it's usually not a secret if someone signs for another club even before the cooling off period is over. There'd have at least been reports about him touring the clubs facilities, meeting Flanno and etc. None of that makes me think he's decided he doesn't want to join the Dragons.

Kerr is okay. Might even be good value for money. I just can't understand why Flanno in particular has signed so many 26+ players. Doueihi would just be one more.

imo sandon smith & atko are too similar, we've already got a running 5/8th in LKT. We need a genuine halfback or someone with a great kicking game. Douehi atleast has that kicking game. I think sandon is a bit of a trap with our squad composition. I'd like him if we didn't have Atko coming to us.

Sandon is very similar to Atko indeed, Sandon would struggle if he was with us. He is very reliant on his running game and with our current pack he wouldn’t have the time and space he gets currently at the roosters

Hard to say.. Sandon supposedly was a 7 before ending up a 6 with the roosters.. but he hasnt thrived in the role when Walker has been out.. I just dunno if we can find better.. thought maybe him and Atko, kind of sharing the role and seeing who looks more comfortable in the 7..

LKT can be injury cover, I dont rly see him as having to be in 1st grade.. and we need a reserve half in nsw cup.

If not Sandon, im not sure who else is possible, almost every other club has already done their wheeling and dealing on 7's for next season.. yet the 1 club who actually doesnt have anyone is the club who hasnt made a move yet.. well.. we havent 'made it happen' anyway... we sort of waited for 7's to fall into our lap.

Kerr is not a marquee signing so he has to be looked at in the context of the roster.
Until the roster is filled I'll reserve my opinion.

If Kerr is Fifita replacement it's a good signing, if JDB or Klemmer, not so good.

Surely no way there are 2 more quality props better than Kerr coming.. but hopefully atleast 1 that surprises us.. like a Mooney or someone we havent thought of.

I know Jack is ageing but still hard to imagine we can find someone harder that could be here for 2026.. Uele was one prospect but he seems like hes pretty cooked.. but maybe hes a 1st grader.. Nelson another if he was remotely going to agree to give up a well paid contract at the storm.. we just have to be careful cause too many 30+ yr olds in the modern game is risky.. but we need bodies also.

We also cant afford to be down 2 Couchmans and Egan again in 2026.. not long term injuries.. if it happened again next year it would be instantly season over.. and that would be without Jack/Klem this time to pick up the slack.. we need Guler to keep firing.. and seems like Sele is staying for now given the number of guys we need to sign. Be great if LPT steps up after another preseason though I have my doubts still.. thats 2 impact forwards and im not sure what role Halangahu is going to have yet.. if were expecting him to play middle.. hes yet to play there in NSW Cup.

Well Doueihi knocks us back and is going to remain a Tiger for at least the next 2 years. Our $150,000 more could not sway him. His Manager, Moses, must have arranged a third party agreement so he could get more than the $350k pa the Tigers will pay him for the new deal.

Dragons tried but can't win them all - hahaha. Now cross him off and who is next on the list - Sandon Smith?
