The Kangaroos '25 Tour of England discussion thread.

Big weekend of footy in Liverpool area on Saturday. The Roos v the 3 Lions at 2.30pm local time and later that day Liverpool v Aston Villa across the river .

Liverpool area full of supporters, quite a few have made the journey from Australia. No shortage of drinking partners in the local pubs.

Bit cool, temps around 12C with a few showers. 50,000 sell out crowd here and in the premier league game similar numbers. Grounds are about 1km apart as the crow flies either side of the mersey.

Here's a tip, drink and eat at the JD Weatherspoon pubs you get a free beer if you buy a main meal and who doesn't like a free beer?

Poms have made 3 changes to their lineup AJ Brimson goes to fb, has shocked many over here as Welsby is highly regarded. Morgan Smithies (Raiders)comes in for Bateman who has been given the flick.

Roos to win by 16.

We are going to get away with this one but no celebrating that game
Hey JO hope you are still having a good time there, yes it was a pretty scrappy game, very frustrating with the amount of errors that were made. I reckon now that the Ashes have been secured it will be a totally different story next game, everybody will get a run and maybe the pommies even win it. Still my firm belief is that if the Pom's couldn't win that game with the way the Aussies played, then they never will.

Mate thats not quite correct they do sell cold beers over here in the pubs.
During my time in the Old Dart if I needed some extra travel funds I'd do odd jobs. One was working in a posh pub in Middlesex where most patrons ordered a ''pint of lite and bitter Kangaroo", thats what they called me. And dead set it was closer to warm than cold. Thankfully they had started to put cold lager on tap too which was my drink. Were there plenty of fellow Aussies with you to cheer us. When I was there in 1981/2 I managed to catch the last of our Invincibles matches. Great atmosphere as we sat among a large group of Aussies and sang Aussie songs.

I crashed and missed it. What was the score guys.
Just read this. Only a 10 pt win. Complacency or did the Poms lift? Were the sin binnings from brawling?
Fulltime: Australia has retained the Ashes after a 14-4 defeat of England in the Second Test at Hill Dickinson Stadium in Liverpool. The Kangaroos overcame the sin binning of Reece Walsh and Tino Fa'asuamaleaui, along with England's Dom Young, to finish too strong after the scores were locked at 4-4 at halftime.

Did the Poms bait us into a brawl to put us off our cohesion knowing there'd be sin binnings.
Anyway even with some of our serious strike power off the paddock for 20 mins we still won and chalked up a record 14 series triumphs on the trot since 1970 against the 'old enemy'. If I have my stats correct you poor hapless Pommies have never won a consecutive series against us in the modern era. Arent you ashamed.
Watching replay now.

Pom hooker started the brawl when he gave Harry what looked like an attempted Liverpool kiss. Harry objected and the Pom went on with it. Tino then ran in to protect his skipper and then there was some push and shove, didnt even see a punch thrown. Pissweak. Tino and Young copped the bin while the instigator got off free. Typical!

Just as well Young didnt score after 16min as the Fox left his wing, was left for Shiba to stop him after the weak Walsh attempt. Both teams are back to playing footy after the earlier set to.

They certainly came in with the niggle intent to put the Aussies off, and to some extent IMO it worked

Jeez a sloppy Walsh almost handed them a six pointer in the 26 min, but Knowles spilt it too. Then he almost let Young score five mins later by failing to knock the ball out of play. Fair to say the whiz kid has not started this game well.
