I hope Gutho has a great year. But it certainly seemed to me he definitely in the second half of the season started to feel it.
Agree. Needed much more help from his forwards to stop the other team marching up-field so easily and much more help from his halves with their kicking. Also needed much more help from halves setting up tries. He's not "marquee" as Flanno keeps saying but I continue to think Gutho is good.

Dont get me wrong i love the guy. The way he came to the Dragons and moved into the area was just top shelf. Yes he is a great to role model for our younger guys and trains really hard. But time and the toughness of NRL does catch up with you. Look how fast the game has become in just the last 5 years.

Gutho is good for the team as the fullback and Captain. He will start the season strongly and help the team build momentum to play with confidence and conviction. With or without KK, the team will be a much improved one as the year progresses. Who Anderson gets to complete the squad - understood to be 4 (3 if KK signs) will be interesting and could possibly be our answer to getting us close to being in the Top 8 at years end. That's why I say we cannot afford to lose those final games like we have in the past.

Surely if we got KK for 2026, we would have to lose someone. I can not for the life of me see any possibility where Muhleisen is top 30 as he will be injured for most of the year. We have Cook, Liddle & Finau (& Flano) who can cover hooker, no way Muhl is top 30

Fox Sport once again not being very complimentary. Though TBF, I agree improvement will have to come from within.

15. DRAGONS WIN WOODEN SPOON

It’s never fun tipping a team to run last, but someone has to win the wooden spoon and we are tipping the Dragons anchor the NRL ladder in 2026. A quick look at last year’s bottom five and it is fair to say the Knights, Titans, Rabbitohs and Tigers will all get better in 2026.

The Dragons will improve as well, but whether it is enough to avoid the wooden spoon remains to be seen, given they are in a rebuild under Shane Flanagan.

The Dragons are relying on improving from within, with recruits Daniel Atkinson (Sharks), Josh Kerr (Dolphins), David Fale (Panthers) and Setu Tu (Warriors) unlikely to inspire a huge rise up the ladder in 2026 and we are tipping them to go backwards.

For starters Atkinson is better than KF or LKT (at this point in time) so there is an improvement. Our young forwards without injury have a lot of upside and I reckon will surprise a few. If our backs can just hold their own then we are not wooden spooners.

Is there a highlights reel or anything to back up the assertion Atkinson is better than LKT? Not saying he isn't. Just that I haven't seen anything to make it certain that he is. Also with the ages of the two, LKT in theory has a lot more upside to his game.

I thought if he can improve his tackling, and should be able to. Call Sowie and ask him if current coaching staff can't help him improve a lot. Then put him behind this years pack rather than last years and FFS, partner him with a decent halfback who can do the long kicking like every other halfback does. I think LKT has a lot of potential.

Seems like a lot but really isn't. Don't know about Atkinson yet but tackling and being behind a better forward pack seems like an easy fix.

I agree mate that’s why I said “this point in time” simply because of their age. As for Atkinson the games he played when Trindal was out for last year and the year before he played quite well. That’s why he was an attractive option for us.

I know once he signed he was given no real opportunities to play 1sts for the Sharks. At the very least he will be fit, injury free and wanting so desperately to prove his knockers wrong. We will find out shortly if he can play 7.

Yes Sir, I have no negativity toward Mr. Atkinson at all. I have high hopes about what he is going to bring to the team. I just can't understand the negativity around Mr King-Togia.

The kid did well last season as he gained experience in 1sts like most players do. His downside is his defensive technique and kicking game. However in a strong ressies team he should be able to hone those skills and continue to develop as a 1sts player. Time will tell if his mindset has changed because of his demotion.
