Kyle Flanagan & the coach

He wanted 2, Parra got him for 1 with a club option for a second. Obviously we could have got the same deal.

I understand Stewart is now the No.1 lock but JDB is much better than Kerr as a prop.
I don't know this but I suspect the club wanted to move on from the sorry episode of BBQ-gate and other things sponsors might not like. And I would've re-signed JDB before signing Kerr but at this stage of his career, JDB isn't a big loss.

Sir, do you honestly believe we are going to have success with Mr. Kyle Flanagan in the halves? Unless he gets much better but he is 28.
One last roll of the dice id suggest. I have an expectation that are forwards will be making metres this year so there are no more excuses for him.

I think JDB is way better than Kerr. Like if Kerr is 50% better and JDB is 50% worse than when they were both played for us, JDB will still be much better but........ In Stewart and the Couchmans don't we already have JDB mark II, III and IV? Kerr isn't as good but he'll bring other things to the team. Like long strides, covering A to B very fast, then falling to the ground as soon as a pinky finger is placed on him and getting a quick play ball.

Just falling to the ground as soon as a defender makes contact with a finger isn't in JDBs DNA. Which might not be the best thing when we have 3 versions of himself who have all surpassed the original. But then again, what would I know?

Did they ever have a guard of honour type farewell for JDB or anything to show thanks for his services to the Club?

Who knows Kerr may have learnt to run into the line and surprise us all

Feb 2nd is Groundhog Day, and Dragons Chris is posting about Kyle Flanagan, and Feb 2nd is Groundhog Day, and
Indeed, someone is once again suggesting something along the lines of, "Kyle shouldn't be expected to do very much. If the halves are no good, Kyle's halves partner is to blame." I really don't get it. What has he done to inspire such blind loyalty among (admittedly very few) Dragons fans?

I always thought he had the game to be a very decent #9. Tackles reasonably well, kicks not well enough for the halves but good enough for a hooker. Runs a bit and can't see why he wouldn't be able to provide good service from dummy half. Doesn't seem to be able to organise well enough in the halves but for a hooker, probably just right. Not enough to get in the way of the halves but enough to get the forwards organised.

But not sure now. Should've been there 2 years ago. Big ask now and if his first game is bad, fans are going to start threatening to send him to the moon again. I have no idea what Flanno is going to do about the Liddle situation but it would've been best if Kyle had the first few games with Atikinson to turn it around. Flanno said he has to take more risks. I agree with Flanno. Try to do more or screw up and get dropped. No more playing it safe.

I can't see anything about his game that makes me think he'll be a good hooker but I hope he gets a chance and nails it and we beat the Dogs in round 1.

With Liddle I was confident. Now, I'm hopeful but not confident. Unless Cook can play 80min.
plus this = a contradiction?

You hope KF gets a chance to play well at hooker and hope Cook can play 80 min because Liddle is out.

Will KF play in the position Flanno said he was recruited to play? Nope. Flanno will say, don't want to risk one of our best. Ask other coaches! Still one trial after this but if Flanno was going to play him there, wouldn't he play him there in both trials?
What it shows is what a lot of people suspected is true. Flanno didn't recruit Kyle to play as a 14. He knows he's even worse at 14.

I don't get how the idea he was a good #14 came about. Because he played #14 in the Dogs reserve grade team? Most importantly, Flanno knows he can't play #14. He confirmed that yesterday.

First post was fine. Don't think anyone disagrees. The next couple I think we can agree should've been in the other thread. That's the way I feel about it anyway.
Fair enough. That should've been respectfully conveyed. That's how I feel about it anyway.

Interesting thing, I can't remember anyone saying, "No, it's not true" regarding Kyle and the extremely preferable treatment he gets from the coach. They just say, "Don't talk about it!" in one way or another.

So tedious reading about it on every thread. That's how I feel about it anyway.

I've listed the reasons I thought he might have made a good hooker several times but not so confident about it now. Should've been #14 from round 1 2024. Big ask for him to make the permanent transition at this stage of his career.
