Coutts is a middle and should not be playing centre. The good thing about the club now is that it seems there is a lot of depth in Reggie’s down into JF now too. Genuinely curious when was the last time we properly recruited players to play in JF? I know Ando has recruited a few.

Never really thought about it but it makes sense for SG Ball players to go back and play park footy because they’re not good enough to make the JF squad. I feel for at least the last 5 years the JF team has always been hanging on for the SG comp to finish to fill it with players.

Realistically Heidke, Reed, and a few others should be starting in JF
I thought he was an edge backrower.

Competition from the JF up puts us in a position that we haven't had for at the very least 7 yrs

100% RD, DA said he wanted to strengthen the lower grades to be able to support NRL when needed and not capitulate like we did last year. Having a consistent lower grade pipeline with talent is exactly what the club needs for its future.

I'd bet both NSW Cup and Jersey Flegg are very good this year. Unless the injury toll is similar to last year.

11 Braith Plecas
12 Cyrus Stanley-Traill

I thought there were big wraps on a few of them. Notably No's: 12, 13, 14, 15, 16.

All white boys, not a whole lot of Polynesians (who make up a majority of the forward packs not including hooker) that are in the St George/Illawarra in comparison to other areas of Sydney/Gold Coast etc.

Daniel Anderson made a good point in his podcast on dragons den last year that while it’s all well and good to have ‘local’ juniors you need ‘imports’ from outside the area to compliment the weak points of the junior pathways

Anyone that thinks we’d be fine with just picking kids from the south coast and St George areas i have a beachfront property in parramatta I’d like to sell you…..

I have previously pointed out what attributes Coutts has that indicates to me, why he could make a good center. He can hit a hole, offoad in a tackle, looks fast enough, has a passing game, can beat a man on his own and has size to defend in the centres. For those who think he is a middle forward or could play middle forward/lock/prop, what are the attributes that indicate that? In today's game lock is usually like a 3rd prop.

So true our problem for the last 25 yrs up here on the GC is that so many moaris and islanders have moved here and they are just big lads and push our caucasian boys out of reps by the U16 rep teams, then they lose interest or play in the Brisbane competitions or give up and go surfing

To my old eyes this kid if he achieves his promise, stays injury free would be a highly sought after back rower. He has soft hands and an offload more senior forwards would die to have.

I have watched him play and last season playing ressies for the Jets/Bluebags was a standout when given a run.

This is some highlights from the JF 24 season and he is much bigger and better last year

He's an out and out backrower.

Yeah, I agree he looks like a great second row prospect. I also see a potential centre there, but I don't see a potential middle forward in that highlights reel. That was my question to those who see him as a middle forward. From that highlights package I am very happy with us signing him. Right now/this year he would probably have the likes of Su'a, Egan, Leilua, R Couchman, Halangahu and Tsougranis all ahead of him for an edge backrow spot and Stanley Trail another who could be pushing for a spot by next year. While at centre, we are a bit light there, with Holmes and Suli the only 2 regular first graders ahead of him. Then Buchanan and Feagai the only other 2 who have played centre in first grade (Tsougranis) filled in at centre, but I think he is a backrower. I hope he can live up to his highlights reel and become a regular first grader. I am not saying he isn't an edge backrower.

He has been training the grandstand down. The big plus this kid has is he is more agile than some that you have named and kid has that offload that is hard to contain and would definitely be included in any attacking structures where 2nd and 3rd phase plays are involved. He will be in the ressies team.

Coutts is not top 30 and doesn't have a supp deal .. he was hired to play reserve grade.
Correct, I initially mentioned that this kid was one to watch out for in the future. Our Ressies (NSW Cup) looks better this year than last. I have high expectations for them and those who are eligible will place pressure on our 1sts for our top 17.

Good position to be in. Something we haven't truly had for at least 7 yrs.
