Watsford said Kyle was only in the halves due to Amone being suspended and then cut and Hunt leaving. He said Kyle was recruited to play No.14.

That’s the story their running with, I’m 99% sure that Shane knew Amone would get the punt and it gave him an excuse to play Kyle in the halves.
It’ll be his 4th season in a row he’s been one of the starting halves in 2027 which is just hilarious for a team trying to make the 8
Kyle’s actually a pretty decent hooker from what I’ve seen so id support a move there but he’s clearly not a half and the longer he’s played there the worse it is for the onfield results

He also sent Bud Sullivan on his way after he knew Amone was almost certainly going to be suspended long term.
Now it looks like Bennet is going to give him first crack at halfback at Souths.
It'll be Interesting to find out if Kyle plays in the halves in today's pseudo game.

I always thought he had the game for a hooker but with all the noise now and the fact he is at the stage of his career he's now at, not so sure. Imagine the heat that will come down on him and Flanno if he plays badly in his first few games at hooker.
After all this I just feel it'd be better for all parties if he accepted a payout and left.

I agree, realistically the only chance he leaves the club is a big offer from England or another NRL club but he’s newly married and about to have a baby so I doubt he’d want to move (no NRL club would want him on the money he’s on with us either)
And Shane would keep him at the club as long as he’s here so the flanagans are pretty much a package deal

Interesting to see what Flanno does moving forward until Liddle is ready to go. Personally, I can’t see LKT at 6 and Kyle at 14. I’m assuming it’s Kyle at 6 and LKT at 14. Does he then come on and play at 9?? Does he come on and Kyle moves to 9?? Do we look to get a back up hooker from elsewhere to plug the gap and have in the 30??
To be honest, Sullivan wasn’t setting the world on fire at that time and he always seemed to be injured

Fate has dealt Flanno a bad break. He will hate to give LKT a chance to partner Atkinson. What if they do well? No way will Kyle keep Liddle out of the team. So if LKT and Atkinson proved to be good, Kyle's days in first grade are almost at an end.
As a result I'd bet Flanno doesn't do the simple thing and simply move the dude to the position he insists he was signed to play but instead goes with some kind of radical revamp. Like Su'A spending 15 min or so at dummy half. Or Gutho 15 min at hooker and Sloan on the bench.
How much is he on? I thought it was a minimum deal

My guess is: Cook will just play 80 in round 1... and continue to do so until Liddle comes back or we lose too many games and require a change

He won't have the legs to play 80 and if he did he wouldn't be dynamic from dummy half after the first 20 min
I have said it before but LKT might do well to consider a career at hooker. It is a position where we could use some depth, and plenty of halves have made that transition. He is also a good passer and backs up very well and he is nuggety. And has some kicking skills. It could suit him.

Sloan still presents so many more questions than answers.
By the general laws of footy and on-boarding first graders, it’s disappointing that’s he’s not straight into the side.
Reputed attempts to offload him fail and he faces more internal pressure from DA who spoke about the primacy of defence in his famous induction interview
The one where he says the mum has all the genetic traits. Very interesting interview to listen to.
I could be wrong, but Flanno was eager to get DA to saints and often people choose like-minded colleagues.
A defensively able Sloan would make a huge difference to all concerned.

Anyway Junior Amone has been testing the market since October.
So far I am aware, no takers and Buds progress at Souths has been a bit slower than he would have liked I suppose.
That he’s got Bennet in command is good but maybe he’ll have to rely on the hands on coaching quite a bit and the grind of first grade ( the great teacher).
Someone like a Jason Taylor would be excellent.
Flanno says the 8 is the goal this season with the rebuild.
I think it’s good to set the expectations realistically for the public, but from the players, he’ll demand 110%. No question of that.
