True ultimately the board can enforce their will.. but I have far more confidence that Watsford will put a pretty compelling case together for some other options.. something quite different to what Webb would have done as more of a pencil pushing kind of a CEO.

But ultimately Craig Youngs mates are on the board.. will be quite a sell to get them off his son..

Someone like Peters though as I mentioned elsewhere.. he would need to be offered not interviewed.. im not even saying he is the man mind you, I dont know f*** all about him bar his record overseas.. I dont rly see a lot of other options though, feel like they all got swallowed up in the last 12 or so months.
Willie has won the Challenge Cup this year against the Broncos and three other major comps in the Super League last year coaching HKR. But he has had some losses one being a biggy against Leeds in Vegas - coached by Brad Arthur. Arthur I think is a good attacking coach and loves big, burly, robust forwards. However, with all of his years coaching, he hasn't won an NRL Grand Final, he coached the Eels to a wooden spoon in 2018 and had big scores put on the Eels in many games - then the last game he coached the Eels his team got thrashed 48-16 by the Storm in Magic Round in 2024 and Brad was summarily sacked by the Eels board thereafter. So, if not Flanno then who?

That's 12 players. Most probably won't be re-signed for 2027 and onwards. I just wonder how many of those that won't be re-signed will go to other clubs and or the new franchises for 2027 (Perth Bears) and 2028 (PNG Chiefs)? In the case of PNG, players from the Australian teams that are signed up have the incentive of getting paid tax free. The problem is of course being within some confines of secured living conditions and of course the constant high temps and humidity. But money speaks all languages.

I’m not too worried about PNG, Dave, but the Perth Bears look like they could pose a real threat.

It's not just Perth or PNG directly taking our players. It is also the flow on effects of these 2 teams signing players from other teams. The 30 players on Perth's roster will leave vacant roster spots all over the league. Players who are off contract will be in demand.

True ultimately the board can enforce their will.. but I have far more confidence that Watsford will put a pretty compelling case together for some other options.. something quite different to what Webb would have done as more of a pencil pushing kind of a CEO.

Isn't Deano is the defensive coach? After round 1, he should be the only one not under pressure.
