Round 10: St. George Illawarra v Newcastle

I thought Sele was effective in the Cup match yesterday and yes I know it was only Cup level. His step gets him between the defence as opposed to Lawrie and Guler who can be lined up and thumped. I would definitely pick Sele ahead of both of them.
Gular is big. Takes a few hard carries. Very far from a star but not useless. Lawrie tries hard. Offers very little.

Kerr used to start on the bench at the dolphins. Is that the simple answer?
Did he play some good games for the Dolphins? I know he ran for a lot of metres against us but in a game they were running riot. Personally I never rated him even after that game. Against strong opposition, I saw nothing to suggest he'd be better which is why I was stunned he was recruited. He even engaged in some trash talk beforehand by talking about how previously he had accepted less money to stay loyal but he isn't going to do that anymore.

Can't be helped. Water under the bridge now. But he needs to remain in reserve grade. Sele, Lawrie and Gular are all better than Kerr. Got KK and Drinkwater coming on big money but even so, after letting go of Gutho, Holmes, Kerr, Flanagan next year and Lawrie, Gular, Cook, CT, Feagai, Leilua this year, new coach will have a lot of room to shape a formidable roster.

Depite being a bit better this year, Feagai must have ruined his chances for an extension after last game.

Kerr has a very limited use and it requires a team to be in the opposition 20m to leverage his use.

Essentially when carry metres are not important but offloads/play the ball speed are critical to a try scoring opportunity is where Kerr could deliver something for us.

Unfortunately getting into that tackle zone is beyond us at the moment so his purpose is quite limited.

We need two big mongrel middles who can get metres/play the ball (KK is one) then you need a couchman to follow that hit up with the next at speed to increase our roll on ... Loko becoming that 2nd would be ideal for us, kerr should be that bloke but just cannot get those metres/impact off a hit up from deep in our own half.

Guler kills me. Some games his carries are great, has an offload in him and plays well. Some games bog average with carries and meters made. Still have him in front of Kerr and Lawrie
Our front rowers are too inconsistent, they can't perform for "80" minutes week in week out, Guler, Lawrie, Kerr have never done that and they're are not about to start now, we need another middle to complement KK..

Our guys for some reason are slow off the line, not focused on where the ball is likely to go and just wait for things to happen rather than make them happen...
In other words - they lack acceleration, anticipation and are indecisive. They don't appear to be able to think of one or more moves ahead because they lack foresight. They are not proactive. In most team sports you play for each other and work out ways to get on top of the opposition together. Look for weaknesses all of the time. I can remember playing tennis when I was fitter and in doubles I used to work out who was the weakest link and then play to that person most of the time to get the advantage. I'm sure that the coach would identify these people on paper etc. but the players should see that as well on the field. The Roosters for instance targeted Reed no doubt in attack - an obvious choice of weakness in our squad on Anzac Day.

Lets see what they do against the Knights in less than a couple of weeks time.

The Knights have plenty of speedy players. How do we counteract that? We lack speed - we need to rely on defence too much because of that.

Definitely. Our squad has so many deficiencies it's not funny. The backs are slow as shit, the forwards lack punch and authority. A massive purge needs to take place. I am not sure now about the young ones we have as having all round strength and resilience to play tough all through the game.
We beat the Knights in the trials. It will be a different story in this Round 10 game.

I stood next to this bloke at the Titans game and on his physique and physical appearance this bloke should be running 100m plus every game, yet he can't manage 50m, Im talking about Kerr.

What is the reason?
No heart mate. Pissed him off years ago for the same reason. Dumb and a rather desperate move to bring him back, because Flanagan was unable to land anyone of better calibre..

Dead set we couldnt have given the Chooks a better spring board than having two sin binned in the first 40. That is 20 mins for them to crucify us with a extra man. Luch's binning was harsh imo as he was in the action of making the hit, how then is he expected to pull out. Perhaps a touch vigorous the contact but Luch is a big 115k man on a little dude..

Roosters on field brain trust are not tactical retards as they soon worked out our weak link was the l/edge, as how many of their bucket load were scored down that side. Reckon Feagai, alone handed them five, two from spilled bombs and three from either missed tackles or leaving his wing, a flaw he has been a master at since he came here.
